Thats the rumour going round at the moment.

http://www.synae.com/games/ps2/

More of the info on there but it does seem like an interesting idea.

They could mount it in the PS logo on the disc tray. Assuming the PS3 is exactly the same as the PS2 in design of course. Shutting up.

It would certainly be a welcome development, although undoubtedly would hike up the launch price of the PS3 a bit more, which could put people off.

No one would put an eye toy in a ps3, thats like putting FIFA on your ps2 so you wouldn't have to buy it. if they were gonna put an eye toy on the ps3 then they'd have to put every game possible on it as well

Really, really bad idea. The practacilities of it just haven't been thought out, though as I'm taking this as little more than a poor internet rumour that's hardly suprising. Many consoles are burried away in cupboards under the TV, or shelves etc etc. Stickling something in them that has to be in direct, unobstructed sight of the player isn't smart with that in mind.

Not really, you just use it for its webcam capabilities and buy the games
on seperate disks.

I think it has a lot of potential myself.
I think if they do include it built into the console then it will allow you to control the menu by moving if you like or just use the controller as normal.

Think it shows that they are considering more way to improve gaming, who knows how more advanced things could get before the release so the possibilites could have a big impact.

Doubt it would change the price much either.

It's not really improving gaming though, is it. Motion sensor controls have been about for donkeys, but they're a bit rubbish for anything other than novelty value. Ultimatley, it is an appropriate control method for such a small, teeny, insignifance number of gaming styles so it'll never be adopted as anything other than a quirky add-on.

You will not be controlling the menu's of your next Sony console via hand gestures, guaranteed.

If Sony were to make an EyeToy for PS3, they'd make a new redesigned one to be bought seperately, for maximum profit.
They'd never give one away by ataching it to the console itself when they know that by releasing one individually, it'll sell by the bucket-load anyway.

Just like multitaps really. Why bother having 4 built-in joypad ports when you can rip off the consumer by making them buy the extra ports.
