"Mark your calendars for a 'mystery briefing' event in Sega of America's E3 Room. This is your opportunity to hear the latest 2004 title announcements from company executives in addition to some explosive news - something even you won't be able to guess!"
Let the rumours circulate. People suggest, among other things, a Nintendo takeover, a Microsoft takever, a new console from SEGA, and the election of Gon-Gon as the new company president.
Any suggestions as to what's going on?
But it has most likely something to do with the sega-sammy relationship.

I disagree, the handheld market would be too risky too. It's getting very crowded - the GBA, the PSP, the DS, the GBA:Next coming sometime or other.
Cubed-3.co.uk now have some groundless "report" on how it will be a new home console: "About a third bigger than the Gamecube, Standard size CD for games, Broadband capable, online (just as the DC was), Games will be downloadable from the Internet, thus making them cheaper (initial analysis suggests prices could range from £20 to £30)"
Sounds like the "Phantom".. whatever happend to that?
Either that or something little, uninteresting and pathetic.
Going for a handheld release is a better idea for Sega, rather then jumping into the console market with the new Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft systems. That is VERY risky, with three new age consoles on the horizon one is surely going to fall short of sales then the others, while one is going to succeed. Having a Sega one as well, isn't that just suicide?
However, handheld. A good way to ease your way back into the hardware market. The only contender at the moment is the Gameboy which sells amazingly over in Japan, and the world over. Surely Sega are seeing this and moving on it?
So soon we have the new contender for the Handheld crown, the Sony PSP. Who knows what will happen here with the PSP and even the new Nintendo handhelds.
But surely, it is less risky, if Sega are wanting to get back into the hardware market, with a handheld system. With the tasty specs we are expecting on these new devices, Sega wouldn't be silly.
I luv da Sega yo.
Why bother, then? A new console or a buyout is a little obvious, so either they're just trying to generate hype (you don't say? :-D) or they really have got something new to show us.
Never knew you were a fuzzie loving man.. I bet you like tentacles too, dontcha :)
Sounds like a challenge to me :^)
Unfortunately, my best 'hard to predict' ideas were along the lines of a merger with / buyout by Nintendo or a new console, perhaps handheld.
Maybe a sega network for online play between all 3 consoles?
Maybe a.. free sandwich for all the press.. Who am I kidding, I can't guess other stuff :^)
