They're both brilliant and AW2 isn't a huge advance on the original. I'd get the first one if it's a bit cheaper, play it to death, then buy the sequel.

I read it's an improvement over the original but a very minor one. NGC called it Advance Wars 1.5.
Just like to say FIFA 2004 is a vast improvement over FIFA 2003, in the words of NGC "It wasn't broke but EA fixed it anyway".
