I'm Back. Havn't been on for about two months. Propoply didn't notice, eh.

Got a Live Starter Kit with PGR2, and am currently trying to set it up. The RJ-whatever cable doesn't fit into my modem and I don't want to have to buy a new one. What's the best way to connect? I also have a laptop and am interested in linking that up to the internet at the same time as my PC and Xbox, should I get a router?

Right I'm guessing you use a USB ADSL modem right?

In which case you need to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), where you connect the Xbox to the PC via a network card and then the PC to the net via the modem as usual. This is a pain as it requires you to have the PC on whenever you want to use Live.

This is what I use: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=56082 as it lets me connect all my computers and Xbox to the net. That and a cheap wireless card would give you mobile access for the laptop.

Of course the lappy probably has built in networking so if you don't want wireless then you could go for one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=48449 .

If on the other hand you use cable, then just get a router without built in modem.
