Anyone see that cruiseliner that came under RPG attack by pirates yaaaaar? That's mental! One minute cruise, next minute pirates! They looked more like mercs from Splinter Cell though, no stripey tops or patch-eyes, or cutlasses - automatic weapons and rocket launchers all the way!

Seriously though, how long before they're sailing up the Thames, stealing our canoes and women?

Me too and I assumed it was in the Carribean but it was off Africa somewhere. Probably because of Pirates of the Caribbean.

When I first heard about it, I was trying to figure out how a galleon managed to keep up with a cruise liner, and had visions of cannonballs bouncing pathetically off the hull, with Captain Jack Sparrow left scratching his head.

Noo, a massive gallion and cannons.

And parrots, of course.

And scurvy.

Pirates are pretty common still in some areas, there are places where people are told just not to ever sail in to due to pirate attacks.

I think it's pretty crap they have stepped up to RPGS and machineguns though, cannons, single shot pistols and a bloody big sword would have a greater effect IMO.

I think it's nice that things like this still happen.

If I'd been on the cruise I'd have thought it was the in-voyage entertainment - 'Hahaha, they're pretending to shoot at us. Quick - hand over our rum and treasure. Garrr, my leg's bleeding'

In a world of financial fraud, corporate crime and violent political rebellion, there's still room for a wannabe Pugwash to carve out a living.
