Ok, hands up, I have never - knowingly - heard a piece of music by Pink Floyd before. Never. This is shocking. So today I acquired (through means I'll leave you to speculate on) Dark Side of the Moon, and it is chuffing spectacular. I can see where most of the bands I listen to, and made me pick up the guitar, got their ideas from.

Aha, good lad, DSotM is magnificent.
I highly recommend Wish You Were Here, also.

It was the first ever album of theirs I listened to, and it's just brilliant.
And The Wall/Animals as well, obviously.

I also suggest you get Pulse, a live album they released some time around 95. Comfortably Numb on it is just glorious, along with Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

So basically just buy everything is what I'm saying.

I just don't get Pink Floyd.

Dark Side of the Moon is pretty good, a lot of their other stuff isn't that great.

Yeah, there's a reason why it stayed in the album charts for 14 years or something ridiculous like that.

I'm a big fan. "Comfortably Numb" is superb. (Sissor Sisters did a dire cover) Also, "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" is an epic. "When the Tigers broke Free" is good. Other great songs include:

Got this on 5.1 surround sound the other day. Impressive when you listen to it like that. Got to say that I'm not a massive fan of Floyd doing 'songs' (Money, Time), mostly because I don't like the vocals. Love bits of thier stuff though, Cluster One, High Hopes, Great Gig...

I've never heard any Pink Floyd either.
