So I opened up my PC today and it was literally covered in dust...take me about 2 hours to clean it all up. What I was wondering is if any of you use any special methods so less dust goes into the PC? Thank you :D

nope, it's gonna happen. just open it up every now and then as you've done.. every few months is a good idea.
Tights... Get an old pair of fine denier tights and cut and secure a piece of the material across the fromt of your fans. Instant dust filter.
Does it matter if there is dust in your PC? Could it harm it atall?

And this doesn't reduce the amount of air that passes through?

Nope. I have 2 x 120mm Akasa Ambers, the front has it's own filter + the tight trick and my internal temp is still no higher than 32degs on load. Plus almost nil dust

Nope. I have 2 x 120mm Akasa Ambers, the front has it's own filter + the tight trick and my internal temp is still no higher than 32degs on load. Plus almost nil dust
I remember reading about some nutter with far too much time on his hands who came up with a miniature extraction system, only for his PC, after finally completing the setup for his workshop.
...But I don't see why a simple pair of tights can't work.
After all, that's one of Tommy Walsh's top tips; for filtering out all the 'bits' you get at the bottom of a tin of paint! ;D
What about using one of those mini vacums you can get for keyboards, might that save you time once it's all opened up?

Vacuums are not such a good idea, you can get quite considerable static buildup at the end of the nozzle. More exhaust fans than intake fans and filters (even home-made ones like Tyla's) also help, but you're never going to make the inside of your computer sterile unless you go to considerable length to seal it. Dust does not explicitly harm computer components, but it can prevent cooling equipment from working properly.
EDIT: compressed air is the best thing to shift dust from the inside of a PC, but it's expensive and liable to blow dust all over the place.

Tyla's filter idea sounds genius, but if that fails, the best way to clean dust out and improve cooling is to carefully unscrew and remove each of your fans, and using a NEW, DRY brush with flexible bristles, and gently brush dust off each blade, and the rim. Then blast dust buildups out of the case using compressed air, before putting fans back in.
