People...."HAVING YOUR PLAYSTATION(AND PS2)CHIPPED IS POINTLESS!
in the short run it is cheaper to buy pirate games, what is it nowadays? £5 a pop? and only a tenner to get it chipped?
BUT..BUT!! hear is when things start to go wrong,
1.As soon as your Station' is opened your garentee is out of the window.
2.After a while the main laser burns out because of your new"wonder chip",and you have to fork out thirty five quid for a new laser.
3.The game cases look cheap and tacky compared to sony's cool lookin' CD cases.
4.crap copies judder
5. if you chip your PS2 it will burn out cos there is no room for the chip to work properly
6.you dont get the manuals
7.nowadays you can get a genuine copys from only a tenner
8.if you deside to sell your station you wont get as much for it cos the games aren't the real McCoy
9.and now i just read that companies have started to make the games self destruct if they are copied.
So thats.. For chipping 2points,
Againts chipping 9points
i know i had mine done and learnt the hard way.When i sold my PSone i got half of what i could have got because i had crappy copies. Now i know what a dumb ass i was i wont be chipping my PS2.
If you still want yours doing go ahead but you'll be sorry!

I had my playstation chipped to play a imported Tekken 3(which rums 100 times faster than the pal version) which my sister bought from america.
It did run copied games( i played Metel Gear Solid before it was released here) but i prefared buying the real ones instead so I never really bought any pirated games..
I knew copied games are illegal to play if you don't have the origional so whenever i played one at the back of my mind i always knew it was wrong.
It is always more satisfing to buy a game you have been wanting for ages with your hard earned cash.
Stick to proper games, they are much better.

Rubbish! Chipping allows u to play imported games that, as you will realise whne u read "The real truth behind importing" you will know! Anyway:

The guarantee only lasts one year, and after this is useless. If u get a good quality shop to chip it, you will never have a problem

Only if you go to dodgy stores. I'd much rather so it in a local independant store where I get a guarantee

But u have spent less on it to start with... and if I were to buy a station, I'd rather buy a chipped one that has yet to fail. This way I can play imports

Crackers will get around this. They find ways... there has yet o be any security system that has not been broken.. in history!

I had thought about having my two chipped because a lot of my friends did and they were saying look I can get 5 games for the price of your one game, and my PSone aint broke down and I can play import.
So I thought about it and about a week later nearly everyone's started glitcheing, freezing burning out and it is because that the laser works twice as fast and it halfs the life and also making newer problems because a PSX isnt designed to work that way anyway.
Lucky for my best friend though he got his PSX robbed and nearly al of his chipped games and he only had about 7 original games and they were up in his room.
Then he got a new one and got that one chipped as well, despite all the problems in his last one.
So much for learning the hard way.

Well Zelda... if they go to proper sores to get them chipped and get a guarantee with the chip they'll be fine! Not going to some dodgy place. U know, chipping isn't illegal... Sega even don't mind people chipping the DC because it is impossible to copy games, and hence the only point chipping is to allow import game buying!
(Ok, so DC games were copied, but no chip was needed... instead it went around the OS... anyway the games had sound files missing and stuff coz GDs are bigger than CDs!)

Yeah I know but even if it has a guarentee on it, an unchipped PSX is meant to run for about 6 years, and even if there is a guarantee that will get your money back then the PSX still wasn't originally designed to run that hard and fast.
And it will still half its life.
So what if you can get your money back!

The guy in the Gamestation shop in the Palasades in town told me that it makes the laser work twice as fast so it can do all that stuff probably the stuff that you just said which eventually wears it out.
