I recently had some major problems with my computer, and I had to run a full system recovery using the disc that came with the computer. My computer is just a bell end anyway but one particular thing thats getting on my nerves is that I can't seem to update my iPod. It tells me that software needs reinstalling, so fair enough I put the software installation CD in, but I get a message saying "1607: unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime."

Any insight on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

In: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\

There's 2 files and 1 folder. The two files is the music DB for iTunes the folder is usually your music unless you told iTunes otherwise. When you reinstall iTunes, just ask it to reimport that folder and viola, there's your music. When installing iTunes, it doesn;t delete the music folder, just the application.

Uninstall the software via add/remove programs that do a clean install from the cd (or whereever iTunes is)

I can't help you fix iTunes but you can install this plugin for Winamp 5 to allow it to update your iPod:
