Im at uni, and they have a 10mb connection, so its quite fast.
BUT, they dont let you connect to out going servers like on limewire, or kazaa etc, to stop you downloading music, its more of they dont let it, and more of, i dont know how to make it work around the fact im on a network, server thing.

Does anyone know how i can get around this problem??
Or atleast have a clue what im talking about?

Cheers

Meant to say or possibly out of the uni. Guess it depends on the circumstances and what you are downloading but it's not something they look over lightly.

A guy was thrown of my course in first year for downloading illegal material - not sure what he was downloading but it certainly stopped the others thinking about downloading music etc...

As far as I know, Warwick has a DirectConnect server that works within the Uni. genius.

I was in edin. over the weekend doing some pointless advertising for KPMG - wearing a sandwich board that read "I was destined for more" <-- Oh the irony - Nice Uni though...

I'm at Edinburgh and am in the same situation. If you're wanting music that shouldn't be a problem. Boot up iTunes and see if other people are sharing music. Something like ourTunes should help you there as well. In our contracty thing it says that we are technically allowed to download copyrighted material, however sharing it will bring down HARSH punishment although I've never heard of that ever being the case. Also check if people are sharing stuff in the normal way, or check if the uni has a MIRC server.

Erm... That sounds OTT! Surely the most severe thing they would do is suspend computer access privilages for a while or indefinately...

Solution: Get friends living off campus to download music for you.

Don't try it, they will find you out.

Every connection is monitored, if you suddenly start using up gigabytes of data they'll find out why.

The restrictions are there to stop you from using P2P programs, if you're going to break those rules then you're going to pay the price.

Basically, no illegal stuff for you this year.

Do they block porn?
