I have a leaflet for BT Broadband, but on the Basic version (which I am most interested in), it say there is 1GB monthly usage? What does this mean, because it rings a bell in my head about something I heard a long time ago about some sort of internet limit that would really annoy people who go online a lot. I obviously don't specialise in this sort of stuff lol, but if someone could clear this up for me it would be very helpful.

Basically it means that your total internet activity for one month (browsing/downloading/gaming/emails/MSN etc) cannot exceed 1GB per month downstream.
Which means it's crap, Asher. Crap.
I don' like limited broadband, but I can understand why they have to do it.
ntl (if you can use them) also has limits, but they are a little more generous.

I recently downloaded all of Lost and didn't come up against any limits. But then hat was about 8GB on the 2MB connection. You'd have to do some serious downloading to hit those limits.

Okay, well for sligtly more cash you can get 15GB monthly, is that enough? I download songs quite often and go on MSN and the net pretty frequently too, how much GB would I need?
And don't any Broadband services offer no limits at all? My dial-up sucks balls, but it certainly doesn't have a limit to how much you can do.

15 Gb is quite sufficient for quite heavy usage, unless you download movies. B has a speed cap on bittorrent, so you tend to upload more than you download unless it's from legit sources.

Thankyou for everyone's help, i guess I'll go for the 15GB one. I'd have been horrified if I'd gone for the 1GB one.

If you have a BT line, why not go for Tiscali? They have uncapped 1meg and 2meg services. Why the 1meg has just been reduced to 14.99 a month with free modem and everything...

What some are forgetting to mention is that BT won't suddenly cut you off, they'll put you on some crappy connection with all the other heavy users.
I think soon they will stop having such low usage limits especially as more people are legally downloading content, such as BBC programs that went on trial this month. Oh and the new consoles coming out.
