Anyone got any opinions of whether Dan Simmon's work is worth reading? :D
I studied the Aeneid at school in Latin, so that draw was a powerful one for me, once I've read this and the sequel Olympus, I think the hyperion books will be next.

Yes, he's very much worth reading. The Hyperion Cantos is easily the best sci-fi series I've ever read, and the first two novels (Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion) are among the best books I've ever read, sci-fi or not. Can't reccommend them highly enough. Ilium is also excellent: it made me want to read The Iliad though. I'm taking the sequel Olympos on holiday with me on Monday.

Gah, I'm too tired :S
Anyway, I've heard of Dan Simmons. Is he actually any good though?
