I would have to say the most powerful and inspirational piece I have ever heard would be 'Duel of the Fates' from star wars episode 1:The phantom menace but I think it features in all of the new films. I'm sure its the echoeing choral element that sets it apart from other film tracks. I'd say 'Duel of the Fates' is closely followed by Rob Dougan's 'Chateau' from The matrix reloaded and 'In a heartbeat' by In da house from 28 days later.
what do you think? is there any music from the commercial sector that you find particularly powerful?

Ha! I tried to buy 'the physical' track as it is on the matrix soundtrack cd however I struggled to find it and so bought it from Itunes instead. Therefore buying and downloading are in the same context...

Leonard Cohen wrote it, Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright both covered it :)

I swear Rufus wainwright sings that.
I am glad to see someone else had Chateau by Rob Dougan. Anyone who hasnt heard the track download it because it is truly incredible! A mic of classic strings and fast paced techno. sheer brilliance.
Johnny Cash - pretty much every song, the misery
Interpol - Not Even Jail
Bright Eyes - We Are Nowhere, Lua and Land Locked Blues
Antony & the Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World
Nice song, that.
