Qualifying: Pizzonia on pole position puts the pressure on the pack
Race: First career win, but can anyone stop Pizzonia?

It was perfect conditions for racing in Monaco for both qualifying and the race but the rest of the field were left pondering how they can stop this run of Pizzonia. Pizzonia took pole position, only his 2nd in his career, ahead of Championship rival Fisichella.

Right behind them on the second row was the McLarens of Raikkonen and Alonso with the only close challenger to Pizzonia, Montoya, in 5th. Montoya's teammate, Sato, qualified right behind him on the grid in 7th with MG's of Salo and De La Rosa in 6th and 8th.

As is usually the norm in Monaco, it's difficult to overtake and if you play your strategy wrong, points places are lost. As it's a dry race, accidents are few, so this race will be won and lost in the pit lane.

Pizzonia started slow off the line which in turn held up Raikkonen, allowing Fisichella into the lead and Alonso into 2nd place. The race then settled into a typical Monaco style, close lapping and tightly bunched packs but little opportunity and cutting edge to overtaking.

The main action started around lap 30 when the pit stops began. Two stops may be quicker on paper but with overtaking a problem, it's easy to slip many places. Fisichella was comfortably leading but his transmission failed on lap 36. Whether he would have gone on to win was anyone's guess as his fuel load was unknown.

Baumgartner was the next retirement a lap later when an oil leak caused the engine to go up in a burst of flames. Sato was the only one caught on live camera to graze the wall and lose a place on lap 42. He probably wasn't the only one.

The race hit another lull as the pit stops worked themselves out. Alonso was the leader and managed to hold on to the lead as the pit stops bunched the top 3. Firman ended a pretty miserable race where he was scrapping for the last few places when his engine blew on lap 59.

Big changes in the points happened on the last few laps. De La Rosa was in 5th place when a water leak cost him and MG F1 valuable points on lap 72. Verstappen was the last retirement when a right front puncture from a very comfortable 4th place on lap 75, only 4 laps from the end.

Alonso came through to win, his first career win, followed by Pizzonia, who seems incapable of putting a foot wrong so far this season. Raikkonen completed a McLaren 1-3 with 3rd place, an excellent result for McLaren.

Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher were running close together for the entire race and finished together with 4th and 5th places respectively. Webber adds 3 points to his tally with 6th, Panis gets his first points of the campaign with 7th and Barrichello collects the last point for 8th.

A bit of a poor qualifying for Pantano, but did well to get up to 10th so that's alright. B.A.R aren't doing too good either. :S

Even though I may have not done as well on predictions this time I'm still able to increase my lead by a point, man I'm kicking bum bum on predictions this season.

EDIT - I will have my predictions up some time later.
