Mini Bio:
Now established as one of Britain's best-loved and biggest comedy stars, ex-boxer Lee Evans has captured audiences' and critics' imaginations with his irrepressible physicality and disarming charm. His last video and DVD, Lee Evans Wired & Wonderful - Live at Wembley went straight into the top 20 in November 2002, just two days after its release, peaking at number 5, it has now sold over 800,000 copies since release.

After leaving art school, Lee tried out many odd jobs before answering to his innate calling: coming from a family of entertainers, it was only a matter of time before he took to the stage. Lee spent six years touring clubs all across the British Isles and, eventually, on what became the alternative comedy circuit, gaining a regular weekly spot at London's famous Comedy Store.

Like a lot of new established comics, Lee's break came in 1993 when he took the Edinburgh Festival by storm and won the prestigious Perrier Award. Also in the same year he achieved a life-long ambition by performing and selling out for two nights at The London Palladium.

In 1996 Lee returned to London with a sell out 8 week run at London's Lyric Theatre breaking all box office records for a solo comedian at a Stoll Moss Theatre. Lee then took his show Same World, Different Planet on a major UK tour before returning to London for a further two week run at the Apollo Theatre where he recorded the best selling video Lee Evans Live - Different Planet Tour.

In 1998 Lee then returned to London for a further ten week sell out run again at the Apollo Theatre. Success has since continued unabated, culminating in October 2002 when Lee became the first solo comedian to play Wembley Arena for two sell out nights performing to 20,000 people.

The latest notable additions to Lee's cannon of celluloid work included the psychological thriller Freeze Frame filmed in 2001 in Belfast and which involved Lee shaving every bit of hair from his body!

In March 2004 Lee proved a great success trying his hand at high drama starring in Samuel Beckett's seminal play Endgame alongside Michael Gambon at Londons Albery Theatre, while late that year In November Lee returned to the West End Stage alongside Nathan Lane in Mel Brooks' musical The Producers at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Possibly the busiest comedian working today, Lee has completed his largest ever UK tour; XL 2005, where Lee performed in nine major cities across England, Scotland and Wales. The tour will took in dates in Birmingham, Sheffield, Glasgow, Cardiff, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Brighton, Bournemouth and London, and was a must see for all Lee Evans fans!

The XL DVD was the second fastest selling comedy DVD in British history, went on to be the Christmas number 1 and has since sold over 900,000 copies.

Lee recently started a new project, 'The History of Mr Polly', which is being filmed in time to show on Boxing Day, this year (26/12/06)
