Again, not to sure how many people here (if any) check out the IEBlog, but for those who don't, they've just announced the addition of a web developer toolbar for IE's 6 and 7. You can read about it if you http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2005/09/16/469686.aspx or download it if you go to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID= [SPACE] e59c3964-672d-4511-bb3e-2d5e1db91038&displaylang=en

My first impression of it was ok, though a little plain, but it is a BETA after all, and the first showing (that I'm aware of) of the tool, so it could be greatly improved.

It does seem to have been inspired by the Firefox web developer toolbar, which is understandable (as it is a great extension) but does have a ruler option, which might come in handy. A DOM explorer has also been built, although how this compairs to others, I can't say yet.

IE 7 in general seems to be coming along quite well from what I've been reading.

Nah, I'm waiting for the final version. I did have the beta, but it's timed out on me since the second beta went out. I'll just wait for the release though... not going to install and uninstall another beta.

I've got the Beta release of VS2005 - is that what you're after? Or has there been an RC version since that?

You paid for the subscription? Do you have the RC of VS 2005 yet? Me wants, though judging by their second beta they're still not ready yet.

Oh, post pics of IE7 please.

/waves copy if IE7... The joys of having an MSDN subscription!;)

It's bad, really bad. The UI is aweful, and as for "New Technology", they've effectivley just takes FF and re skinned it. I'm not personally impressed by it, but then when you compare it to IE6, it's miles ahead in comformance to standards. Haven't had much chance to run it through the mill, but won't be giving up FF for it just yet.

One tiny, teeny weeny discrepancy between IE and FF that I hate is the centering - IE is 1 pixel off in both directions but FF will center an image placed in the background perfectly with a centered div.

Not too sure if anybody here is interested, but according to the IE Blog, it seems IE 7 has had a lot of it's CSS bugs fixed, as well as some additional CSS functionality added, which include selectors.

BETA 1 has been released, with mixed reviews it seems (I don't like the UI myself, screen shot link below), but the CSS fixes and additions mentioned in the recent blog entry won't be seen until BETA 2.

Seems like the software is coming along, as they've just announced that the PNG Alpha channel has been added, as well as a few CSS fixes, which include the peekaboo and guillotine bugs.
