It's the story of how the Spartans came to be. it's a great read and a must for HALO fans. There's 3 books:
The Fall of Reach: How the Spartans came to be and the introduction of the Covenant.
The Flood: The Story of 'Halo: Combat Evolved' and side stories that you don't experience in the game.
First Strike: This completely bridges the gap between HALO 1 and HALO 2.
They're really good books, i've finished them. Apart from the over-use of the word 'aft', I have no real complaints!
