The best memory i have of asprilla is the pictures in the paper when he just signed of him walking through a tyneside blizzard!

Taking into account he is from the tropical climate of columbia, he must have been thinking "WTF am i doing here?!"

Going a little further...Celebrations can affect the overall opinion of a player, and the whole picture associated with the goal. Like Henry is a tw@t with his arrogant chest beating expressionless celebrations. Although thankfully he hasnt scored for 6 games now.

And then you have genius celebrations like Ketsbaia when he was at newcastle who kicked the crap out of an advertising board after he scored. Or Asprilla ripping out the corner flag and waving it around with his shirt on it.

That goal was average.

Had it been scored by anybody else, it would have still been average.

If someone looks angry when putting the ball in, and someone else puts the ball in teh exact same way from the exact same place with a calm face, it doesn't make a better goal.

The genius is in his face. He was so calm when he scored it, it was unbelieveable.

That's hard to say being a Man U supporter, however he's always been one of my favourite players.

Afterall, he scored tons of goals for my Holland team on FIFA years back :P

He's a quality player, but his goal today was not genius.

It was an amazing finish considering the timing and precision he needed in order to get it under control and tuck it right in the corner. He's not automatically a genius for it, but him being an incredible player isn't something that "suddenly" happened, like you say.

Aha, did you see Bergkamp's goal.

Got a lucky bounce of his thigh, tapped it in from 4 yards out, and suddenly HE'S A GENIUS.
