Can anyone give me information on these charges. How much is import duty on consoles and games. Do you get stung for it everytime?

If something is over £18 in value then you are liable for customs, this accounts for VAT + a parcelforce clearance fee (not sure how they work this out, but it's always been £10 for me).

If I remember rightly, the PF Clearance fee is based on the weight/volume of the package.

You don't always get stung for Customs charges, it is possible to get away with it.

I just have, with my DS. If the sender marks the package as a gift rather than commercial goods, it helps.

£200 overall, for mario and my DS, not bad I feel, as it's not out in the UK yet and I got it before Christmas, but still...

I think it's something like 17.5 % then 4.5% added on to that.

I didn't have to pay anything on my DS. ^_^

No in that you can get it cheaper.

Yes in that DS + Mario = amazing.

I don't want to get it from eBay and everywhere else is sold out. Plus I don't have to pay import tax on that and I can get it the day after I order.

Let me put it this way:

The DS is an amazing system and if it has a better launch title than Mario I'd be extremely surprised (due to the fact that it's brilliant).

As well as this, it will cost you £150 on pre-order for the DS ONLY (Metroid demo isn't confirmed) over here and you're getting practically the same thing only months later. The system is now proven to be region free in every single way.

Knowing you, you'll probably want to pick Madden up too; go for dvdboxoffice (no tax, shade over £20).
