Aside from The Sopranos, The West Wing, Nevermind The Buzzcocks and Room 101 can someone suggest something decent to watch on tv?

Preferably something which doesn't involve cliched murders and that isn't made for old biddies.

Something like North Square or The Cops'd be good, is there anything like that on television anymore or is it just programs featuring a collection of PC demographic loser characters with about as much depth as a cornflake?

Don't suggest any of the latest 'appeal to teens' buffy-type crap. Don't suggest any soaps of any sort. Don't suggest anything to do with buying/developing/selling/painting houses/people/pets.

So people: DECENT tv suggestions, lets have 'em.

I wasn't talking about what was on TV at the exact moment I posted.

Any suggestion of what's going to be on soon (this week, before the end of the year...) is what I'm after.

I like Curb Your Enthusiasm on E4 Thursdays at 11:10 (though last weeks was 11:40 so it could have been moved) and Carnivale on FX289 on Sundays at 9:00.

Carnivale has a bearded lady and the backwards talking midget from Twin Peaks. Oh, and John Connor from Terminator 3.

Only things I ever watch on TV are Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Shield and anything about Sasquatch. Yet I always seem to know what's on, and who's in it.

eMpTyV and all the other crappy music channels have no appeal, apart from providing soft-porn frills throughout the day.

Oh, and Deadwood is pretty good - give it a chance. Don't write Lovejoy off!

Arrested development on BBC 2 (v. funny american sitcom)

End of Story on BBC 3 (good for aspiring writers)

Scrapheap challenge on C4 (two teams build stuff in a scrapyard to undertake challenges- last week they built propeller powered cars)

Grumpy Old Men is on tonight on BBC2. I think it's 10pm.
