Think it's been a long time since someone mentioned this.

Basically, try and list thirteen songs that would make 'as close to' the definitive music cd, that you're stuck on a desert island with, with no electricity, but never mind about that.

13 tracks, what songs would you choose? (Don't worry about the length, just make it thirteen, even if you have Shine on you Crazy Diamond followed by In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and Tubular Bells)

Right, I'm going to list some songs I could simply not do without at the moment, though this is far from definitive...

Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Grace - Jeff Buckley
Anyone can play guitar - Radiohead
Skeleton Key - The Coral
Goodbye - The Coral
I love you (but you're green) - Babyshambles
For Lovers - Pete Doherty and Wolfman
Lullaby - The Cure
Close to me - The Cure
Girlfriend in a coma - The Smiths
Panic - The Smiths
I live in a hiding place - Idlewild
Suicide is painless (theme from M*A*S*H) - Manic Street Preachers

Bear in mind, these are not necessarily my favourite songs (if it was, it'd mostly be Babyshambles and Libertines), but these are the ones which offer a large spread of my musical tastes... not varied, I know, but still... It's my CD-R.

And, thanks to your mention of Hellehlujah, I'm sat listening to the grace album. Such brilliance. Just up to 'Last Goodbye', now. Listened to it 22 times the morning after my school leavers do. Superb.

Hmmm, i'm going to try and pick one song from each of my favourite singers and maybe one classical piece, so singers first and songs when i've decided and i'll edit it in.

1. Stevie Wonder - Too many to bother writing
2. Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin, Hallelujah or Dream Brother
3. Don Mclean - American Pie or Vincent
4. Carpenters - For All We Know
5. R.E.M. - At My Most Beautiful
6. Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice It's Alright
7. Joni Mitchell - Blue or Both Sides Now
8. Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On or Mercy Mercy Me
9. Temptations - My Girl or Just My Imagination
10.Roy Orbison - Only The Lonely
11.John Lennon - Love or Beautiful Boy
12.Coldplay - The Scientist
13.Claude Debussy - Au Clair De Lune

Maybe not my favourite songs but they change on an hour by hour basis, probably my favourite voices though barring Chris Martin

Missing out were Bob Marley, Sex Pistols, Patsy Cline, Al Green, Smokey Robinson, Edith Piaf, Gladys Knight and Vonda Shepard
