Im using a clapped uot old 19" monitor until I can afford a nice flatscreen CRT, but today it keeps "refreshing itself" with a clicking noise (the same noise as when you change resolutions or refresh rates) is it the heat (the back does feel quite hot)- or is it time to sell it while it still works?

This can happen when there's too much dust inside on one of the circuit boards - the dust heats up and momentarily vaporises, taking with it some solder from the board. It then cools very quickly, remaking the connection on the board.

Get a TFT.

Why bother, you wouldn't get much. Just sacraficially burn it and replace with a nice shiny TFT

TFT? Nah, I'd rather have changeable resolutions, fast refresh rates and no ghosting when I play games. It'll be quite a while before TFTs are as good as CRTs.

Ive read this about 500 times on the overclockers forums, TFT's that ghost are few and far between these days. And you can change the resolution, its just that the display looks better at one than the others.

I know about TFTs, I have one, but my main PC on which I play games will remain CRT for a while yet as it is still far superior. 19" Samsung CRT > 17" LG1710B.

Are you saying that your TFT ghosts in games?

Are you saying that your TFT ghosts in games?
The older ones did a bit with 20 ms panels. The newer 16 ms ones are fine. But even then the image quality on the CRT is still noticeably better.
