Why is it that our flag is now being called the Union Flag, instead of the Union Jack?
Have I missed something? All through the olympics it seemed to be referred to as Union Flag, and in a Sky News report about Kelly Holmes welcome home thing, they call it Union Flag as well...

This is right. When its on a ship, its the Union Jack, but the correct term for when its not on a ship is the Union Flag.

Union Jack is just a nickname. Union Flag is the real name.
