I have yet another complaint to make, although this time I'm going to predict a terrible wrong doing before it even occurs!

The subject in question, as you may have guessed from the title, is James Bond films. 007, the guy we all supposedly want to be. Although I'm quite happy sitting watching HIM risk HIS neck.

But maybe I'm just a wimp. Although now I'm moving away from the point.

My point is that people like me who have greatly enjoyed collecting the new special edition bond DVD's are going to end up being very annoyed. And the reason for this annoyance is also a reason for us to be pleased. All will make sense soon.

Very soon (although I'm not exactly sure when) we will be treated to the biggest bond ever. Bond 20! Mr Brosnan's final outing as the fearless bond, and of course it is going to be a stonker. No doubt we will be treated to the same marvellous concoction of action and guns and women and vodka as we have always been.

I for one will be waiting outside the cinema on premier day, ready to be one of the first to see the next in the series.

But from the point at which I leave the cinema it will all be going very pear shaped. And WHY?! Because, as some may have noticed, the bond DVD's have the logo running along the spine of each case. So when you have all 19, you get the big logo and can be very proud. You may also, like myself, have collected all of the lovely postcards and stills and storyboards and whatever else.

But then bond 20 arrives, and where do we put it? Does it go at the end of the collection? Does it get a whole different shelf? No the more likely explanation is that they will re-release all 20 ALL OVER AGAIN just so you can make a whole new picture along the shelf.

And what do people like me, and possibly you, do with our old series one collection, missing that new film. Well we of course put the whole lot into the attic. We can't bear to even see them on the shelf. Our once loved Ferrari of the DVD collectors world has become...simply a Lada. An ancient relic. No-one wants them, you can't give the things away.

Well over THREE HUNDRED POUNDS has been spent on a second class collection.

Now before I collapse in tears, lets get onto those love handles I mentioned. Because as Brosnan passes on through the halls of bond memory he sits aside the greats. Moore and Connery of course. And as you may have noticed lately, some cheeky little chap in a film production company has decided to release the two rogue bond films.

The main of which being Never Say Never Again. It's Connery again, only with a lot more wrinkles. And a hell of a lot more of a gut having over his belt. Nothing to do with the original series producers and subsequently an unofficial outing for bond. And hence it must also sit aside the collection like an unwanted hangover. It well and truly spoils your day.

I haven't actually bought the film myself, or Casino Royale (which I try to ignore in shops) but the release of these two films is good because it allows us to sample some of the anger that will occur with bond 20.

I've seen what happened with the VHS versions of bond, and just in case you didn't sample the delights of money being forced from you, it basically went like this.......

New bond film, whole new box set. New bond film, whole new box set. New bond film, whole new box set.

But what do we care! We really couldnt give a damn whether the shelf looks stupid, or whether our mates ridicule us for having an odd looking collection. Well on the outside, when we're sensible and mature and remember we don't have enough money....we can live with not having the new collection when it comes out. Maybe.

If anyone would like to come up with ideas for how we will manage to get through this dilemma I would be most grateful. As you can imagine, I've given this great thought, and I really can't see an option but for suffering. Well either that of stump up the cash for the new set.

It's just one of life's niggles. Just another never ending search for shelf perfection, pride amongst friends, and what has to be the best set of films ever made in history.

I love them all.....Dr No, From Russia with love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You only live twice, On her majesties secret service, Diamonds are forever, Live and let die, The man with the golden gun, The spy who loved me, Moonraker, For your eyes only, Octopussy, A view to a kill, The living daylights, License to kill, Goldeneye, Tomorrow never dies, and of course, The world is not enough.

To all those concerned, my sympathies are with you. Let's just get annoyed together and remember it's not the end of the world.

And if it was, well 007 would save us anyway.

Ciao! :)
