I honestly can't remember anyone on t.v. referring to redgrave as english, i know the papers do, and as for the curling team, it was well known they were scottish, we supported them regardless and barring the commonwealth games, we always go to the olympics as Great Britain which is why they are referred to as british.
Blame the papers, not us.

I'm sorry, but perhaps most average English people can't reverse 1000 years of Anglo-dominated politics in the region.
I'm part Scottish. I have no dislike of the Scots. I am not particularly proud of some of the English population, but you labelling us as all arrogant and somehow all responsoble for the past is just as bad as you being blanketed by English dominated culture.

Blame the media, not the english, we supported the irish during the 94 & 2002 world cup and we supported the scottish during 98, we have no problem with the scots despite them seeming to have a major problem with us.

I've met plenty of stupid americans who think scotland is part of england and have never heard of wales and havent got a clue where it is.

Yes but it's german now.
You can't edit the title!!! Geesh.

The Republic of Ireland is still part of the British Isles as it is merely a geographic term like Benelux is for the lowland countries of Europe.
As for why we are bitter... we aren't. Even though you can't even get Scot right.
What does irritate most people is how English people achieve things on behalf of England alone, but for anyone else who achieves something they achieve it for Britain. Never Scotland, or Wales or Northern Island. Media bias makes us dislike England.
The same media bias goes on about England being a great team when in fact they are merely mediocre. I think that will be shown.
I'm not jealous in the slightest. I wouldn't want to be English.
And I have never met anyone who thought Scotland was part of England. Most people know the difference. Scots are also more welcome in most places, especially the football fans.
Final point, the Scottish monarch took over the English throne, not the other way around.
