Hi all

OK question...

I have designed a high end php mysql website but after using FREEOLA to host my domain because of the main reason it hosts MYSQL databases i noticed the warning that the service cannot be guaranteed.

Basically i need to know roughly how many queries at a time can the mysql database cope with and roughly what the percentage of the uptime/downtime is.

Hi Steve,

Just thought I'd chip in with my experiences of Freeola MYSQL. I've had a site which relies heavily on MYSQL having high availablility. In the past two years the service has been down about twice. A few weeks back we had the infamous password updates episode which caused problems but nothing that wasn't resolvable quite quickly.

I don't want to seem like I'm sucking up to Freeola but on the whole I've found the service excellent.

The MySQL service is designed to be a home/Small business feature and as such the only restrictions we place on it regarding queries is that a fair use policy applies. This means that if your site causes a high load on the server then we may take action to rectify this.
With regards to uptime, we do not guarantee this but our uptime is very good. Generally the only downtime we have is for software upgrades, which don't take long.
You can always try it out for a few months as we do allow you to cancel the service if it doesn't fit you needs.

Hi Steve,
welcome to the forums.

I'm sure you'll get an 'official' answer later but FWIW I have quite a lot of Freeola sites (non-MySQL) so take a keen interest in the Status page!

As you mention there isn't an SLA for MySQL but over the last 5 years or so I can only remember a few MySQL outages - so things seem pretty reliable.

If you look over at the Hottest Sites page some of those sites use MySQL. www.yamahapkowner.com springs to mind (which also gets a mention here).

Searching the forums is another way for you to get a feel for things.
