Empire City isn't the best place to go away to on Holiday.  There's a huge crater in the ground, half the transport system is out and there are a bunch of strange guys in robes called Reapers who aren't exactly holiday rep material.

Not to mention the fact that the police have cordoned the city off so you'll be stuck there for as long as it takes.  It's lucky, then, that Cole, the hero of InFamous, isn't thinking of taking a holiday.  Instead he finds himself with electrical powers and a task to bring order back to the city.

The choice is yours...
That is, of course, if you want to play hero.  If you're in it for yourself, however, you can choose to be the bad guy and ignore the helpless citizens trapped inside the city with you.  Such is the choice in the game, good or bad, both with their own merits and special powers.

Unfortunately, there is no in between here.  If you choose to go bad you get bad karma which increases your power, and being good does the opposite, so those waning between both won't really see any benefits at all.

Electrifying Story
The story of InFamous is well written and presented both in game and with comic book cut scenes which delve further into Cole's search for answers to the origin of his power and a way out of the city.  Voice-overs are actually pretty well presented too, which all adds to the experience.

Lighting Up
The graphics are crisp and some of the lightning effects are pretty special as you light up the ground or the sky with huge blasts, particularly as you get more powerful throughout the game.

As with any open world game there is pop-up here and there, but the draw distance is pretty good and it can still keep pace while Cole is speeding across overhead cables.

Zapping the Enemy
Reapers and Dustmen are the first 2 factions you come across in the games, with the initial Reapers proving to be a push over.  But then you get the suicide bombers and the rooftop guns and the sharp shooting enemies and things start to get that much harder.

Levelling up your powers and completing side missions (shown on your radar) means you get to clear an area of bad guys and make it a good place to hang out when you want to get your energy back, but it also means you will gain much needed experience points towards the all important powers.

Fork Lightning
The story forks out depending on your choices of good or evil, but it's not really until nearer the end that you find it making all that much of a difference.  Still, it's nice to have instead of just building up one set of powers and means you can always play through the game with good or evil a second time.

Storm in a teacup
So is this Sony's killer exclusive game?  Well, no, but it comes close.  InFamous is fun and can be exciting if you're prepared to get through some of the more tedious missions on your way to the bigger and better powers and the more interesting storyline towards the end of the game.

It's moments when the air lights up with your huge powerful bolts of lightning and the ground shaking attacks that you'll be glad you played Infamous though and this in itself makes it worth a purchase.
