I'm addicted to this game and have been playing it for well over a year now which for me is the longest I've ever played a single game.

In Sim City 4 you don't just build your city you breathe life into it. You have god-like powers and sculpt mountains, gouge riverbeds, and plant forests to lay the groundwork for your creation. Then as Mayor you construct the most realistic city you can imagine.

Your city comes alive with the hustle and bustle of construction crews, traffic and the activity of your Sims. You can move your personalized Sims into your city and watch as they go about their daily lives. Build mansions on mountainsides, cross canyons with bridges, raise skyscrapers downtown, and compete for resources with neighbouring Sim Cities. With every decision you make, your city and your Sims will respond for better or worse.

What this game has is three different modes of play to build your dream city. The three modes are 'God' 'Mayor' and 'My Sims'.

In the God mode is where you have full conrol over the terrain of your virtual world with some very good tools at hand. You can build mountains, create canyons and lakes all with great detail and realistic characteristics. You will also want to seed your landscape and watch the trees grow over the years.

Before you build your city you can populate the land with wildlife that roam and graze in the wild or even come stampeding into your city. There are a good selection of disaster too that you may use at anytime during the game.

The Mayor mode is where you will control and ultimately make or break your creation. The city that you will run is so realistic it really does draw you into the game.

Probably one of the biggest changes besides the enhanced graphics is the region Play. Now no longer is your city confined to a square grid. Sim City 4 uses regions in which you can build multiple cities and have them share or compete for resources. You may even connect all your cities together to make one large city.

You also have three choices of realism in the fact that you can play entirely in daylight, night time or have the sim cycle through night and day on a realistic 24 hour clock.

Another feature is that not only can you create sim characters and observe their daily routine as well as interact with them you can now import your favorite Sim of your own that you created in the Sims and see how your Sim reacts when living in your city.

This is a great game that you can lose hours playing and I'd reccommend it to anyone who is a fan of Sim games.
