Original Post:
Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad is an interesting title for a game.  So interesting, in fact, that I had to try it out.  Unwilling to buy the game myself, I found a foolish friend who’d already bought it at the ‘budget’ price of £24.99

At first it looks as though this game has a sense of humour.  The cut scene pretty much sums up the level the developers are aiming at, barely dressed woman and young girl fight zombies with lots of blood.  There is absolutely no explanation as to why the woman has to wear a bikini, but I have a suspicion that it’s more to do with the audience than the story.

The aim of the game is to kill zombies and that’s pretty much all there is to it.  Kill a load of seemingly randomly placed zombies until you get to a boss battle.  Defeat the boss and move on, past another cut scene (and some of the most frustrating loading times I’ve ever come across) and do the same again.

Ok, there are some added elements like getting too much blood on your sword, which means it won’t work so well, but to be honest they feel like an afterthought.  No, what this game boils down to is watching a mostly naked woman and a dodgy school girl with equally dodgy skirt animations fight zombies with loads and loads of blood.  Which might even be excusable in itself if it was watchable.   But it isn’t.  The graphics look like they were designed on the original Xbox rather than the 360 and the animation is terrible.  Even the cut scenes (probably the only reason someone would willingly play the game) feel rushed and buggy.

Controls are pretty simple and ‘combos’ basically involve mashing buttons or pressing the same button 10 times.  Madness.  They don’t even seem to respond very quickly, making the game even more of a button mashing mess.  I tried out the co-op game too, thinking it might improve things.  It doesn’t.  It just gets confusing with so much blood everywhere.  And the dressing up, where the girls stand in their underwear, isn’t even worth thinking about.

Onechanbara is probably one of the worst games I’ve ever played and ever will play on the 360.  Please, whatever you do, don’t buy it!

Score: 1/10 (add a point if you’re a pervert)
