I'll be the different one here, I thought it was fantastic. Really quite an original effort, the air of mystery in it was good too.

Are the next three all linked? It certainly looks so, can't wait :)

It wasn't scary at all. I was expecting something really disturbing when the girl turned around so that was a bit of an anti climax.

Disappointed, it was ok but could have been so much better.  A bit of a half hearted attempt at horror from RTD.

I thought it started well but then in classic RTD fashion it trailed off.

All I found on google was this rather amusing picture. Run for the stairs!

EDIT: found the proper pics now :)

Proper Davros picture doing the rounds now, I'll let you look it up, but the new Dalek design is retro heaven, Davros looks quite funky too, if a little inspector Gadget (you'll see what I mean).

I guess the biggest news over the last few days has been the 'leaked' Davros picture.

Don't be surprised if you see something familiar in it, take a look here , then here .

Of course, this is more likely a case of same make-up team working on both prosthetics, but still...

Now I thought the ending was good.  It was different enough, surprising and I know they'll find an interesting way to bring him back (in the specials?).  It was just the whole Martha thing and the name thing that got us there in the first place which didn't fit with the last two episodes.

I was really disappointed by last seasons finale. The previous two episodes were good but the whole Martha globetrotting just so everyone can think the word Doctor, quite frankly sucked for me. (Also we got our nice big reset button!) I wanted to see consequences, I wanted a showdown between the Master and Doctor, I wanted the Masters tardis! Maybe a few people would've been disappointed if the Master had escaped the clutches of the Doctor at the last second but I would've preffered that to ending we got. But ho-hum this year we're getting bombarded with every companion that has appeared since Who was brought back. Maybe, just maybe this won't be such a good thing...

..bleh! the Doctor and his own daughter rumoured to be involved with each other? That's like Courteney Cox dating David Schwimmer.

Who's your daddy?

No, I'm with you.  RTD isn't a bad writer per-se, but he can't do big conclusions, they just fizzle.

That said, he's done all the last chapters of every series so far and they haven't exactly been stinkers, just sometimes a bit of a letdown right at the end. Last series for instance, the final episode was great in parts, especially the twist at the end, but the events leading up to it just didn't seem to be the right pace, it was too untidy.

Moffat will change all that, I'm sure, but we have to wait 2 years to see it.  In the meantime we'll get some nice stand-alones and hopefully Neil Gaimen will agree to write something for the 2010 series, now that would be special.

Am I only one who is a little underwhelmed by the fact RTD is writing the rest of this season. I am pleased that he brought back the show and I don't think his stories are the worst, but they all seem too cliched for my liking. I would love something a little different for the last few eps. No doubt we'll get the normal end of the world scenario with a nice big reset button at the end.

I agree, it's how Doctor Who started and it still benefits from cliff-hangers and a slower pace to properly introduce the characters and set the scene.

I think she is just a future companion of the doctor. I think she just got in contact with the wrong version of the doctor (different regeneration perhaps, but definitely at some point ten.)

Some people have speculated that she is the doctors wife in the future but I think that is a bit far fetched. A little part of me is niggling at me saying that she is going to die by the end of the next episode though i sincerely hope not (explanation timey-wimey).

A brilliant episode on the other hand though. This is what I watch doctor who for. I love the two parters the pace is that much slower that you don't feel like you are being forced into the conclusion.

No, she's not the Doctor, she didn't recognise Donna, she'd only heard about her. She's obviously someone very close to him though. Another Timelord?  But then wouldn't he notice that?

It was a female hand that took the ring from the Master's finger last series, though, wasn't it?  Might have nothing to do with it, but...

Got around to watching this last night, you're right it was a very good episode although it all seems very 'Matrix-y' (i.e. the little girl is living her life when she is, in fact, a security system or curator for this library planet. I'm still looking forward to this week though!

So is Alex Kingston a future incarnation of The Doctor or am I reading that completely wrong? It just seems to me that they are too similar, both has his sonic screwdriver (which, he "never gives to anyone"), they come out with similar phrases and she kept referring to him as 'young'. On the other hand I may be completely wide of the mark...

Well, Moffat does it again.  Great story, some interesting plot developments, the whole memory ghosting thing was pretty spooky and will be interesting to see what the connection actually is with that girl and the library.  9/10.  Hopefully the conclusion will get a 10/10!

Episode 8: Silence in the Library - by Steven Moffat
Episode 9: Forest of the Dead - by Steven Moffat
Episode 10: Midnight - by Russell T Davies
Episode 11: Turn Left- by Russell T Davies
Episode 12: TOP SECRET!
Episode 13: Journey's End - by Russell T Davies

so that would be 6.

8 and 9 are a 2 parter, and it's most likely that 11 to 13 will be linked if not a 3 parter like last season.

Or Dave Ross as Simon Pegg called him.

Watched it just now on the BBC website, looking good!

What's the betting that the previously unreleased episode title is called 'Davros' or something similar?

Seen the mid season trail?

Rose - check
Daleks - check
Half Dalek casing with something inside resembling a man - check

Davros isn't exactly the best kept secret this season, is he?  But nice trailer...

So, the news we were expecting for a while.  Davies has decided that this series (and the specials) will be his last as head writer, handing the task over to Steven Moffat.

Steven Moffat is a good choice, penning two of the better Who stories from the last couple of seasons (Girl in the Fireplace and Blink) as well as penning the script for the new Tintin movie.  It means Davies can continue with other work while still keeping his hand in to provide the occassional Who story.

There has been some talk of Davies episodes that bookended the last few series being not so good, but he himself admits he doesn't really listen to the fans.

Meanwhile, speculation grows that Episode 12 has 'Dalek' in the title, and this is why it's currently a secret.

So, The Unicorn and the Wasp. Great again.

Completely different pace and feel, but still wonderful.  Just the right side of parody for the source material, difficult to get right.  Reminded me of Black Orchid, another one of my favourite Classic stories, mainly because it's so different to the other Who of its time.

No Who next week, due to Eurovision though, Nil points.

Was great.  Felt like a classic Who episode right up until the whole death thing.

In a way it felt like they copped out a bit by making her an artificial daughter, but I can see why they did it.  It did work though.

Still doesn't answer what happened to Susan.

Yep, great again.  Wonder if the new UNIT guy, Colonel Mace, will be a regular, like good old Lethbridge Stewart.

But next week...I really hope they get this one right.  It could go either way.  Play too much on the Whoniverse past and lose new viewers or ignore it and lose Whovians...

Tegan, slightly, Turlough (well, more 'clan' than family).  Not really any others I can think of outside of Ace in the novels.

They're more than a bit annoying, as is that Harry Potter wannabe.

Sigh, I wish I had the classics. The Who in the cricket get up looks like a joker.
