Christopher was great and i thought he couldn't be replaced. I was wrong, so very wrong. David has been the best Doctor so far and i'm glad he's staying on. When David does want to leave i don't think a replacement doctor would be better because i think it would actually harm the show. David's acting and enthusiasm has made the show what it is today. :)

David or Christopher? I'd say David was better, but that's opinion for you. A lot of people hated Colin too, but he shone in the stories that were well written.
Christopher was great, though, but he did seem to have a problem with accepting the role outside of turning up and doing the acting. Surely he must have realised what an institution it was? At least David has taken it upon himself to do his best outside of filming the series to take on the 'full role' that being The Doctor entails.

no, i think David is terrible i am sure he could be better, it might be the script. Eccleston was far superior. most of the acting by everyone is poor which is a real shame
as for dalek stories, i think the single dalek in the first (new)series was the best, it was more menacing then a whole fleet of them now.

As long as the stories remain interesting and he still loves the role, I can't see why not.

I just read on DigitalSpy that they're going to offer David quite a lot of money to stay on for another year, so I hope he ends up staying as he's becoming one of my all time favourite Doctors.
Anyone else agree with me?

According to dictionary.com, one of the various meanings is:
'a report or account of a matter'
Therefore, yes your very brief version of the episode does constitute a story :P

The losers were the audience. RTD still think hes writing a soap opera, the BBC is still hiring actors but not requiring them to act, and production values are still on par with an episode of Neighbours from the 80s (maybe explains RTD's writing).
And the sad part is, alot of this wont get ackowledged because its Doctor Who. As long as its got the brand attached people wont care.
> Would you say it's atleast the best Davros/dalek story so far?
Does "Daleks are going to destroy reality, Donna flips a switch. The End" really constitute a story?

after last week i was a bit disappointed with the way that the daleks were defeated. or maybe just the way that they were humiliated. other than that, a great episode.

Apart from "everything" what didn't you like about the episode? David is still the Doctor, Donna is still alive and Rose has her man. Everyones a winner, except maybe Davros but I have a feeling he'll be back.
Would you say it's atleast the best Davros/dalek story so far?

Interesting to read all the news coverage. Alot seem to be convinced that David Tennant leaving seems to be a real possibility. Despite him claiming he'd signed up for the specials.

It all started because of the discs.
The Daleks in the comics back in the 70's had discs to fly on. Obviously the series didn't have the budget or means for convincing flying daleks and only managed hovering at the end of it's run in 89.
RTD remembered just what a response that got at the time and wanted to repeat it with the first Dalek story, but looks like he got a bit carried away with subsequent stories.
Still, we'll have a reset button special on Saturday, no doubt, then some specials next year (hopefully with guest writers) and the great Moffat can take over.

I agree, I don't mind them levitating, this makes sense for simple obstacles. But the way they're shown lately to be nimble and energetic in the air sucks!

Isn't the tardis unpredictable enough to get into the time war?
I've said it again but it's worth repeating just incase RTD ever checks this thread.
I don't like flying daleks. I don't mind them hovering for short periods of time, but giving them the ability to fly makes them almost unstoppable. That's why no one has made a movie about flying zombies, because now you've got no where to run and hide. They'll just fly in through the open window upstairs.
And don't ever think about giving them the ability to go invisible, because that's just being silly.

That makes a lot of sense actually, but I'm pretty sure Caan was going for a prediction, one that the viewer doesn't already know.

Could be because she is pregnant. But something has also happened to her mouth, she sounded as if she was gargling marbles in Turn Left.

What about Captain Jack? He keeps dying... then eventually does as the face of Bo.

Poor K9! :D
Seriously, though, I wonder if that's Donna and having to die because she's still altering the universe...
Otherwise it'll be Rose, but then they can't bring her back and we'll have another big weepy moment again.

Tennant has to come back somehow :) They'll be an "RTD button" for him somewhere in the opening minutes.
What was it Caan said, though, something about the strongest/most faithful companion will suffer a thousand deaths/most painful suffering?
I've got it downloaded in iplayer, I'll watch it a third time tomorrow :)

The Temporal shift was unpredictable and I think the point was that Caan wasn't 'supposed' to find himself there, but did through some sort of fluke. Because, by the laws of time, he wasn't supposed to be there it drove him mad.

It was very good, i hope David Tennant is still going to be the Doctor, even if he has to have an extra nose to stay in the series. :) I heard somewhere that he was staying on to do another series, don't know if it's true though.
And as for Davros, will he ever be killed?

I enjoyed the episode but like Garin I can be very picky and find things I didnt like.
I think it's best if I watch it again because theres some things I don't understand, like how dalek Caan ended up there and how the time war is no longer time locked.

Just finished watching it, twas excellent but I'm already spoilered out so I'm like 98% sure I know whats coming next, which is a shame.
Seems like we're getting a load of loose ends tied up though, and looks like the Timewar is going to be undone...

heh. Love the ending. It'll be the Hand in the Jar as a get out clause for regeneration, though.
Actually, it's that and/or the thing is still on Donna's back (as the lady from the Shadow Proclamation mentioned) and it's still an alternate universe.
As for the episode as a whole: Wow! 10/10.

The Master is the main one I can think of, but JS should be back to play him in one of next year's specials.
Then as far as new monsters for next year we could still have the Sea Devils, Ice Warriors, Rani, Omega, Rassilon and many others that could be dusted off and re-used.
