Mrs digi has been complaining at me all day about ehr instant site - she has been working on her site moste of the day and uploading images has taken for ever, and changes she is making to the site are taking a while to show live? is this normal? are photos vetted for approval before going live? or is there a fault? or is this how it will be? she is used to doing site on non instant sites and changes made by ftp etc are near instant - any advice?

Ah quite possibly. Some browser don't cope well with all the Javascript that's required on that page. What you can do is split your photos up into multiple gallery pages and then combine those pages into one to display them all on the same page on your site. That way when you go and edit your gallery you can edit one part at a time in 50 picture blocks for example.

I think I might have too many photos on one page :)
Would that make it stick?

First, try clearing your browser cache and then try again. If it still doesn't work then let me know and I'll take a look on Monday.

It just doesn't want to update.. the button won't work! I'm trying to enter a 'section heading text' on a gallery page below some photos and for some reason the button just seems dead :( and I'm trying it on two pages now as I've just made another gallery and the same thing is happening.. it's probably me but any suggestions would be good :)

It's certainly not normal! You're the first to report this and when I ran some tests today everything seemed to running smoothly. Could be network congestion somewhere or perhaps Java runtime has auto updated itself again and caused a slowdown problem.
Could you let me know how it is tomorrow? Unfortunately I won't be able to do anything further until Monday though.
