Original Post:
Just sorting out my latest batch of domain renewals...

I have a couple of .eu domains due for renewal on 24/9/9

I have previously received the renewal reminder email (2/7/9) and the domains show 'orange' (expires soon) in my MyFreeola domain portfolio.

But when I try to renew I receive:

"xxxxxxxxxxxxx.eu  24/9/09 (50 Days)  Cannot Renew Yet"

Is it me or 'you' ?
Thanks.

We can only offer renewal of .eu domain names 30 days before expiry Hmmm.....

Incidentally I am thinking of starting to call you H. As typing Hmmm is too awkward :P

Thanks for that Warhunt.

Perhaps you can arrange for the email reminders and MyFreeola to be updated to show that?

As I mentioned the email was sent at the start of July and MyFreeola flags it as going to expire soon...

Took you ages to reply ;)

I will pass your comments on but it's really a general thing for all domains (only .eu domain names like to be awkward) and is still a prelimenary warning as some users would consider 30 days short notice.

I have to try to make a £ or 2 in the real world! :¬)

Unbelievably I've been out helping one of my 'Freeola' clients setup their first InstantPro site!!!

Not only do I put them on Freeola BB, and get them to use numerous Freeola domains, but I also introduce them to Freeola InstantPro!!!

They seemed quite happy and are already talking about signing up for more InstantPro sites!

huh? It's your systems that are asking me to renew now but aren't allowing it!?

Surely 'you' need to change your processes to cater for .eu addresses?...

Not sure myself what the email states exactly, which is why I said I said I would pass it on. If it needs changing then it will be don't panic.

I meant the prelimenary warning.......

Basically......

There are certain companies (read: competitors) that will note when a domain is expiring and try and email the customer using details on a WHOIS. The email is often of the nature..

"Your domain is expiring. To renew please ring us on...."

This does not really mention that they will be transferring companies etc so the customer has no idea what is happening.

Due to this we tend to send out emails very early to keep the customer as in the know as possible. I was under the impression that the .eu domain version did state that .eu domains can only be renewed at a certain point.

You can email me a copy of what you got, or just wait until I have spoke to marketing.

Dear Get Dotted Customer,

We are writing to let you know that the domain name(s) below are due for renewal soon.

DOMAIN NAME  EXPIRES  REGISTRANT  RENEWAL PRICE

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.EU  24/9/2009  xxx  10.34 for 1 yr
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.EU  24/9/2009  xxx  10.34 for 1 yr

The prices shown above include a discount of 40%.

» Click here to renew now - it's fast, cheap and easy!

You should renew the above name(s) as soon as possible, as expiry will cause any associated e-mail and web services to stop working.

--------------------------------

EDIT: The above email was received on the 2nd July...

I'm not sure I'm appreciated appropriately around here! :¬P

Just to keep you informed o noticer of noticeable things ;)

We shall be adding an extra paragraph to the email to explain the process of .eu domains, and looking at further options at a later date.

There's no need to thank me... ! :¬)

I spent £99.98 today renewing the domains your system allowed me to - hopefully I'll remember to renew the ones I was asked to renew but couldn't...!

Walnut, there are a couple of others posts where you said you would get an update.

Can I let you find them or would you like some help :¬P

*Bang goes another GAD*

Please note the 'smilies' as I'm still a very happy Freeola customer!

EDIT: Don't forget to update MyFreeola as well as the email!

You will get more reminders anyway. I am sure you have had experience of .eu long enough to know you are alerted daily when it reaches the 30 day mark? If not you do. Or at least with us anyway, as you can not renew them after they expire at all, we kind of "remind you lots"

Thank you for reminding me Huh..... I am but one man, remind me if you wish and I will see what I can do. Although if I can not provide any more information than has already been stated (such as your "Getting spam" thread) then I will not be updating them. As I can't. No problem with you asking stuff though.

Conspiracy theory much? :P. I thought I had mentioned that it is not just me that awards the techhnical Award on a Thursday :(

Anyway I would be bored if it wasn't for your technical posts wouldn't i? :D
