Uploading pdf files and opening links in a new win... There are 7 replies
Original Message posted by Lodgeman on 21/03/2008 at 7:12:05PM
I don't know if this is going to be too much for the site to cope with but I would like to be able to upload some files in word or pdf format for visitors to download.
Also, where I have links from my site, I would like them to open in a new window so that I don't "lose" the visitor.

Anybody know if this possible, and if so how?

Many thanks!

PDF support will be added soon hopefully.
We don't really want to add little improvements here and there to a live system.
All the suggestions will be taken on board and some will be added to our development system and when ready they will be made live.
So you won't just see PDF support but many other improvements.

Hi folks

Many thanks for your postings and apolgies for the delay in replying - new to this game and couldn't find my way back to the forum!

Thanks for the tip on opening up links in a new window which I have now done.  I would still like to add a pdf if it is possible to add this facility?

Thanks again,

Lodgeman

I'd quite like to link to word documents ( or little comment boxes) from my site too as some of the detail I want to add to photos is a bit long to put underneath them on the webpage.

...any demand for them?

I'm ok - but it would be nice to hear back from Lodgeman!

At the moment you can't upload PDF files but I can add that file type to the editor next week if you like.
Not sure about .doc (MS Word) files, any demand for them?
Just a tip:
If you want to copy and paste content from a Word document then do it using Internet Explorer. The editor can then use some IE only features to clean up the Word code and save it as HTML.

Hi there,
You can change the way links open by using the relevant option from the 'insert/edit links' drop down box - use the target option as required.

I'm not sure about the Word or PDF files (I've only been using Instant Sites for a couple of hours!). I see you can embed 'media' like video etc. but haven't seen other formats.

Obviously you could use another free Freeola site and FTP the documents to that web space and then link to them.

Others may be able to help you more with this...
