Anti-malware programs seem to be taking over. If you don't already have it, I would get the beta of the Microsoft AntiSpyware program and AVG Anti-virus. Run them manually every couple of days and you should be fine.

LHC stops every once in a while for them to evaluate all the results and do some work using them. After that is done they then release more jobs. Right now they are out, like you said.

Predictor has very short jobs, so it is easy to build up credit in it. Credit is granted for most things in a manner similar to FAD was, CPU time * a benchmark. So you don't get more credit, just get it faster.

These are just statuses. I'm not entirely sure what preempted means, but ready to run means a job is ready to run, that it hasn't been finished and that you haven't suspended that project. Ready to report means that a job is finished and can be returned, or that it is overdue and will be removed next time you contact the server.

That is perfectly normal. They have very long work units since they simulate the weather for 50 odd years.

That's perfectly normal too :-P They are struggling with bandwidth and disk space and things. Basically the SETI BOINC resources are under an awful lot more strain now that SETI Classic has been shut down.

I don't do SETI. I just don't ever think it will be a success. I run quite a few projects, but I mainly run Rosetta and uFluids. Rosetta is the best I think in terms of usefulness, in the same way I did FAD because I thought it the most worthy.

Morning all, I know what you mean about the cold Frag, but at least it is nearly weekend.

Got the year end numbers done and they are very nice too, the money for my PS3 looks very safe :)

Morning,

Late to work today.  Feel so tired.  Think I'm starting to seriously stress out :)

Last thing I said to MD last night was that I would be turning the router off until morning.  'Cos I'm late I get a call at home because MD cannot access his email or database.  I start explaining to him where the router is and he says he's seen it and there are no lights on it.  Um... that's because you need to switch in ON.  I swear he'll be the death of me.  I hear horror stories from Help centres and never believed them until this morning.

Hello Shadow - thought you must have been buried under more paperwork then Jive and I put together.  Thought we'd lost you for a while there :)

You honestly tell your other half the total bonus you'll get?  Wow - marry me instead.

Unless, like me, you cannot hide it due to a joint bank account :D

No, but she knows I will be getting a bonus and the PS3 turning up will be a bit of a give away :)

Ah thanks Biggles very helpful :D yeah Predictor seems to be the only one giving me credit 60 I think. I'll drop some projects after they complete their job and I've had a better look at each of them. Everything seems to be running fine at the moment, not sure what was wrong before.

Apart from not sleeping too well, I'm doing okay. Made 2 final tables in poker this week, which is pretty good for me. Don't usually get to the final table. Only had 2 before this week.

Morning

Well I've been doing some mucking around with the PSP, put some music on the card, converted a movie I had overnight and that works a treat on the PSP .. looks perfect :)

All I've got to do now is copy the saved game data from the old card to the new one and I'll be sorted :D

Off to town this morning to buy a food processor and bits for the kitchen .. ahh the domesticated lifestyle :)

What's everyone else upto today?

Morning,

Well so far I have walked the dog and cleaned the kitchen.  Been through the weeks post and junked most of it.  Just sorting myself a sausage sarnie for lunch.

Supposed to be at uni but I cannot be ars.. bothered to drive to Leeds so I will behave and work from home.  I have to design a poster, among other things, and have an idea (I've had it for 6 months now) of what I want but not how to go about doing it :)

Just had a fun class teaching my chinese teenagers the fine song that is Bohemian Rhapsody, for some reason they find Mama and Bismillah hilarious. Wasn't exactly the best rendition ever but it'll do. My Way and New York New York by Sinatra tomorrow, hurrah

Did get about an hour on FM2006 on the PC :)

Afternoon,

Got to agree with frag although I did 'quite good' with my work on Saturday and very good with my work on Sunday.  Unfortunately I still didn't have time to complete it and am having to spend today in the office trying to tie all documents together and get them printed out.  The report is due in at 5.00 pm today so - yippee!  Ready or not that's when I hand it in and forget about it.

My boss has been an absolute angel with me today.  He's only swore at me once despite the fact that I spent most of my working day on my IP reseach document.  He's so proud of me for doing this - bless!  :)

Watched Devil's Advocate last night, good film despite Keanu Reeves doing his damndest to ruin all of Pacino's work and make a good film suck. Why this talentless hack gets paid all those millions to monotone his way through a film i'll never know. He has about as much charisma as a stool, that has no paint, or a soft cushion.
