And that burger must have been the biggest, most delicious one ever to warrant that price tag.

When Episode 1 came out, my brother bought lots of figures and just left them in their box. I think everyone else had the same idea, so I don't think they'll be worth much more than what he paid.
I feel sorry for people who collect Star Wars merchandise. There's just so much of it and the majority is rubbish. Who the hell wants an action figure of a character that had 3 seconds of screen time anyway.
Also as much as I like Boba Fett he's not worth $13,000

With all the chrimstas lights being turned on, shops with their christmas decorations up and christmas songs playing, it doesn't feel like Guy Fawkes night.

Too true, had completely forgotten it was bonfire night tonight. Guess it's because I'm not planning on going to any firework parties this year for the first time in ages...

What stupid kids :/
@Emmie, glad to have you back.
Haven't heard any fireworks yet, we don't have our local one till 7, so the celebrations will have to wait. Probably a good thing as it's raining a lot here.

Quiet weekend again. Must be all the fireworks.
Talking of which, a lesson reiterated this weekend. My sister's partner is currently at home with a complete loss of vision after a firework shot into his face :(
Hopefully the swelling is causing most of the vision loss, and he will know whether he is permenantly blind on Tuesday. Doctors are more or less positive there will be vision returned in one eye, but are doubtful about the other :S So fingers crossed.
All the more reason why fireworks should be dealt with much more professionally. My sister actually bought some on thursday....she is 17!

They really should start upping the law on fireworks, restricting sales to licensed users (fireworks show organisers and such) only. I was waiting in line in Sainsbury's and in front of me was your typical chav (cap, tracksuit, white sports trainers) holding a couple of boxes of firework rockets... he was over 18 no doubt, but the whole queue must have all been thinking the same thing. And of course there was this incident in the news
Fireworks shoved through a letterbox

Exactly. Mad isn't it?
How many of us have had a fireworks display in our back garden where "that one firework" has gone oddly wrong? I remember my auntie has like a birthmark under her eye now where one hit her when I was younger.
I love fireworks, but really.......giving people sticks of gunpowder to set off 10 feet away from their house and more importantly, their children? :S

I concur. I don't think fireworks should be sold publicly. I would treat them as weapons, seeing as:
1.They are missles
2.They can injure people
That seems clear enough reason to ban them to me. And you get all these *censored* (;D) firing them days after bonfire night has finished.
And the fact they make annoying noises. I hate bonfire night, and was trying to watch a dvd. Some *censored* was firing them in the garden behind ours, ones that make them stupid whizzing noises. Had to turn the TV up quite loud. So yes.
Either let fireworks be set off at organised public events, or ban Bonfire Night, it being oddly strange that we celebrate a man who tried to destroy parliament- an early terrorist. The modern day equivalent would be firing RPGs into the sky because Saddam Hussein got hanged or something.

We celebrate defeating and punishing him I believe more than him per se. If that even is the true meaning. I can't remember now. :S
Either way, I am strongly against banning it altogether. My family have always had massive feelings for fireworks night, as it's like a second Xmas to us. We all get together, my older brother buys loads of fireworks etc. BBQ, coats and sparklers. :D
That part of it is great, but there should be some class or leaflet thing you have to read through with trained providers when buying. Wouldn't be that hard.
EDIT: I should elaborate. Have only trained providers able to sell them. When you go to buy fireworks you have to listen to a 5/10 minute safety talk and sign something official to say you have done it. Not too much effort to go through, or for the officials to set up.
Used to work at Somerfield, and we sold them to anyone who asked (and was old enough obviously). I took this further in our store, by refusing to let any of my evening team sell them to anyone who looked dodgy. Against the rules? Definately. Against societies morales? Hell no.

Maybe, but I would rather storekeepers took a safety first approach concerning fireworks, because they are so deadly and life changing in the hands of anyone without the appropriate level of responsibility.

Fair enough Warhunt, we each have our own family's traditions, and fair play on breaking the law- for the right reasons of course ;D But nobody can hold it against families who have been on the bad end of a firework wanting them banned.

My morale is pretty low now I've read that.
If you meant morals, then I thought we were trying to get past that stage in society where we judge people by their appearance. Or is equality not a part of society's morals?
No wonder we have a disillusioned youth throwing fireworks through people's mailboxes.

But Warhunt hasn't created the stereotypes. It's not stereotypical, it's true. I'm sorry, if somebody is wearing a hood, and it's not very cold or raining, i'll automatically think they're up to no good. I say it's not stereotypical because you can't stereotype if it's completely true. I would never sell a firework to a skinhead wearing a hoody with a gang of mates around him, because to be honest, i care more for my personal guilt, because if they injure or kill somebody with them, i'm going to feel aweful. So screw being stereotypical, if a scall wants to buy a firework, then he should've done better in school.

Sorry mate, going to have to disagree with you on that one.Everyone has a choice in life and there are no excuses. If someone P'd me off would I light a firework and throw it through their letterbox ?.......no I wouldn't.Prejudice against race, sexuality, disability etc. is totally out of order IMO but this argument seems a little different to me.Guys on here seem to be talking about prejudice against groups who make others lives a misery (Chav's.Hoodie brigade and the like).I have heard these characters bleat on about their rights, what about the rights of the people who's lives they effect ?.Anyway, whats going on here tonight, its like Jeremy Kyle has taken over the forum !.

I wear a hood and have short hair. Do I create these problems for society? So no, it isn't completely true Chris.

Because a middle class kid has never blown off half his face with a firework? You guys seem to be content advocating discrimination against groups from up there on your high horses. Talk about firework legisation instead, your warped sense of justice is ridiculous.

I'm not giving them justification. I'm just highlighting the loss of community within our society. But hey, you'll find out for yourself when one of your kids grows up and is denied fireworks by a Warhunt in ASDA.

I think that means that 'we guys' are elevating ourselves above the rest of society. I'm not elevating myself at all in society, i hate classes in society. What i'm on at is image, because i have to say, 100% of the time i've seen youths doing something, they've been skinheads with hoodies on. That is completely true. We've had car windows smashed in multiple times, all by the same group, during one week, there was multiple burgalries on the same shop by the same people. Yes, they wore hoodies. And i live in one of the 'posher' parts of Liverpool. So forgive me if i'd think twice about selling fireworks to people of this image. It's not my fault i think this way, it's just judging from personal experience, i can't help it.

Now there's something I do agree with.I live in a small(ish) and I have noticed a big change round here over the last say 10 years and have to say it's generally not been for the better.
Alfonse wrote:

TBH Alfonse there are many things I fear about for my daughter (especially for when she gets older),but to be honest that would not rate as one of the worst of my concerns.
I have read through these posts with interest, some very good points have been made on here tonight (some I agree with others not so much).Alfonse's theory is kind of you should never judge a book by its cover and as an obviously intelligent and decent young man he feels its unfair that some people may decide to judge him on the clothes and hairstyles he may choose to adopt.I can sort of subscribe to that line of thinking but sadly I have had experiences which have made me extremely wary of certain groups of individuals. If that is classed as prejudice in anyway then so be it.
Anyway, its been way too heavy on here for my liking this evening.

The loss of community is brought on by the hostile glares and behaviour of said groups of chavs themselves. Prejudice against race/religion/sex/disability is unfounded. But looking at someone with ill intent whilst dressed in clothing that disguises your face, does create the feeling that someone is up to no good. But that can be changed.
And kids aren't sold fireworks at all. Yet kids are setting them off with the intent to harm others, as shown in the BBC links below. So it's obvious that some adults or adult looking kids are buying it for them. Who are these adults? As they're hardly setting the right example to their kids, we can easily assume that they are a grown up version of the kids doing the damage - hence mine, and the others' suspicion of the adult chav buying the fireworks.
And this is why we should just have a blanket ban on selling fireworks bar show organisers... it is clear that having a policy on not selling to anyone 'shifty' is at best vague and at worst targeting groups that would otherwise be fine, were it not for the storekeeper's own prejudices.
