Everybody loves a winge. There's nothing worse than gathering up all that pent up rage. So post what really gets on your nerves on this thread for debate or discussion (but please, keep it clean ;D)
I'll start.
I get really annoyed with people who stop in the middle of the road to go the shop. "But i'll only be 5 minutes". Well 5 minutes is too long for me baby! *crashes into the car* (i don't even drive ;D)

Chavs,can't stand em.
There is bunch which live near me.There's about 8 of them which fit into a crappy 1.2 corsa !.First you here their terrible 'Ibiza Anthems' music blarting out at about 2 million decibels before they drive past with the car stuck in 2nd gear doing 200,000 RPM,but only actually travelling at about 15 MPH !.The crime rate has dropped massively around my village this summer as 2 of them are currently giving her majesty pleasure !.

First Bus Group!
Every few months they announce that they are axing the bus route from my town (and surrounding area) to Bristol Every few months there is a lot of anxiety on how we will get to work. Every few months there is a large protest and petition to save the bus route.
Its also great that they are raising my fair (only my super-saver will cost me £6 a day travel...). When questioned "it is due to the current economic climate and therefore need to raise fares to maximise profit". Great...so why are you offering the other side of town a HUGE reduction of fares..?
Confusing. Especially the driver that thought it was funny to drive 20mph down the motorway yesterday...no cars in front of him, no traffic...idiot...
There, feel much better now!

Double standards!
The fact that certain users can call people names like "d******d" and write a list of names titled "Retard list" without so much as a "USER WARNED" by their name, but other users can make a few jokes and play along when one user accuses them of all being one person posting on multiple accounts only to be banned with no warning whatsoever!

Being told to stay on topic in a discussion forum, where perhaps discussion should be encouraged, not dissuaded.
Oh, and people who eat with their mouths open.

Me too.
I very much dislike people who think it's wrong to laugh at something, as if laughing blocks out all other emotions.

It's almost as if we're all still together on a chat forum somewhere else... Mad. I could even tell you the name of it, but I think it's still in the swearfilter :P Tubes

I think the basic story is along the lines of at one point there were thousands of posts a day (Over 2000 on some days in a row, I think the general average was around 1500-1000 posts) - and it was full of things like fictional writing (The Short Story Competitions were popular), plenty of gaming chat, and just general misenthropy and fun. There were laughable threads, and there were some pretty deep discussions about drug use, from people who'd been experienced in the area. People told stories about their lives, and it was probably because of that openness and ability to be able to talk frankly about problems that resulted in us getting to know each other so well. That and we made each other laugh. Swearing was filtered, but as long as you filtered yourself, it was fine. Occasionally a few little spurts kicked off between users, but it was left to be and things sorted themselves out. There were joint stories written, and were pages and pages long of people enjoying themselves in that community, and it was great fun. We also had notables, in which the users would vote for the best users on here that stood out from the rest, and I think there were more notables then than there are active users now. I was the second notable made, and was never removed.
GADs were awarded for a massive range of different posts, and there were even multiple cliques on here, rather than about 10 people in one 'family'
Then it was decided that the forum should become more family orientated, and questioning about it came up with very little idea of why it was happening. A few redesigns were used, and everyone was a bit uncomfortable but just went along with it for the time being. At one point though someone basically dropped the entire dictionary of 'dangerous words' into the swear filter, which resulted in words like 'tubes' being a swear word and would stop you from posting.
Things kicked off a bit, and it was asked if that could be reverted. It wasn't. People started getting quite peeved at such a popular place that we'd enjoyed using for years being changed into something that it wasn't before. Topics of discussion were banned, such as the afforementioned drug use, I distinctly remember a topic concerning a user that had been sexually abused being deleted, which I found disgusting at the time that something like that could have been removed.
Further gripes went on and it came to a clash, multiple people got banned, including some notables. When Tony sold SR to his son, which then went under a few months later, the forums vanished, and we all grouped together (that's how strong the community was) and one of the previous notables (one that was banned) built forums for us to use. We're still there now.
When the Freeola forums returned, a few of us came back to visit and see how things were, Pb for one stayed here whilst the rest migrated, and people like me, Miss NY and Tim come back and forth between them.
And just to keep on topic, I didn't like the fall of SR much.

no it's the lack of a swearfilter that does it.
it's rated R and thus can't be spoken about on a PG13 forum

Yeah, that's what I miss. None of this "boy I've tried so hard to win today I hope I can win even though I have a one in ten chance".. but waking up and finding you've won for a half drunken ramble about life from the night before. Hurray

Reply to GT earlier wall of text....
As much as the SR forums were a huge success at the time, and I would love to have been there, these are the Freeola forums now. Something quite different.
The users here enjoy the place, and other users do occasionally come back so this is good. Shame we do not get 2000 posts a day yes, but think everyone is happy enough. (At least moderating it is fairly easy :S )
And to Steel...
You won't get banned for going off topic mate no matter how many people seem to mention this :S

Woohoo, permission to go off topic as much as we like
If we treat Freeola as a brand new forum then, just started with only a few members.. I know it's unlikely and what not, but if I really did have one suggestion for getting more members here, take GADs away from reviews, cheats and walkthroughs, and give them to discussions instead. That's how it started, and it worked fantastically. There were always blatent GAD attempts, obviously, but with the openness to write about absolutely anything you wanted to, it not only gave a massive boost in the competitiveness of writing, it then increased the quality, and it attracted new members and very quickly.
It will be a slightly different job of choosing the GADs, it's certainly easier to award for cheats/reviews, but with the discussions there's a hell of a lot more variety. To begin with also, and I still think it's relevant, they wouldn't award a prize if they didn't feel anything decent enough was done on that day.
Then people start getting reaaally creative in order to try and win. I think it's the way to go again, personally.

Well done Grix for the long post. I'd been around for just over a year at the point when the events you desrcibed happened. And you explained it well for the others that weren't around at the time.
I remember getting three votes on one occasion in a notable elction. I have been subtley hinting at a similar feature for sometime (obviously, not being a notable for ever, just for the month - too few of us for the old style way).
I too remember being frustrated by the magic swear filter. Wouldn't even let me put "screwdriver" in a post... I think every other word in the dictionary was banned at one point! Much better now though.
The reason I never joined "the others" (to be said in LOST fashion...) on PM was due to me not getting on with the forum system. Also had a few more friends that stayed here. Nothing personal, just a preferred choice. But if you were all to stay around, the forum would look a bit livlier and who knows, it may reach a stage where it resembles the old forums.
*I think the sexual abuse thread was my one...I wondered where my mini-life story had gone

I was going to keep it under the sheets but i didn't want to cause a stir in the forums since Warhunt had to sort everything out. Noticed Athool and Ban Nedok come on yesterday. Knew straight away they were the previous lot of banned members, due to the fact that between them, they talked like they'd known each other for ages. Secondly, Ban Nedok talked about the banned members and how it was ridiculous. If that wasn't enough, Ban Nedok=Banned ok. Think it about clears things up. No more of this nonsense, back onto the topic of the thread.
