Original Post:
I have decided to set up a thread for GAD queries - anything GAD related, whether it be what is the best way to win one, lost claim, bragging about how many you have won (come on pb and Emmie...you are too modest on here :p), or just to praise winners and thank the staff for their awards.

It may save the staff the hassle of having to trawl through the other threads looking for queries (although we now have the option to e-mail them) and possibly the talk of winners talking about GAD wins may encourage others to attempt for them.

Hopefully this thread will take off....and congratulations to all the winners so far!

Can I return my GAD prize of Mario Power Tennis please - it's rubbish. Or at least can I have another GAD for that succinct review?

cheers

Unfortunately we are unable to offer any kind of refund or replacement for a GAD Game, I'm sorry that your not happy with your prize, if you want something else I would recommend you look into selling it at CEX or Amazon or one of the other sites you can sell your games on.

Obviously if you want another game! Just submit another review or cheats... you know the drill :).

What other review did you mean sorry? We'll have a look :)

Neckarb - sorry i was just joking. Unless you were too, in which case I'm sorry I didn't get it. Either way I'm very very sorry.

motomoto - I meant my 'it's rubbish' review. OK I admit it is a bit short and doesn't give a truely critical analysis of the games flaws - so I might have a go at submitting a proper one.

I think i have touched on this before but i really enjoy winning for a review i have written, especially when you have a game or film that you enjoyed. I have written a couple in the past week, and i just submitted one for Marley & Me, i really enjoyed the film and i think that is reflected in the review. And that goes for a chat post aswell, if it is something your excited about, enjoyed or are really eager to talk about then it will make for a better post and ultimately gives you a better chance to win.

Anyway - rant over. I see the update on the winner list and look forward to getting the game. Thanks again!

Reviews are probably my favourite thing to win for, I refuse to do cheats to win GAD though I'll do a few to help the site out if I see they're missing.

I love reviewing games I really love like my recent SFIV review (go see it and comment!) but also it's quite fun to review the games I hated, like this.

In fact, my creative writing was even better to win for but I've not had time recently to write any stories.

Lastly, I love winning for articles, but to be honest it's even better if people actually reply and start an interesting conversation.

That said, any win is really welcome and I love that Freeola have managed to keep GAD going in any form.  I salute you Freeola!

Here's an idea :¬)

A while back Freeola stopped giving GAD wins to Freeola's Customer Sites which I thought was rather a shame as Domain Hosting is a major part of Freeola's business.

So how about, rather than giving the normal GAD vouchers or games Freeola could award a free co.uk domain with their basic free hosting to deserving Freeola customer sites?

This would work in a number of ways - it would benefit the Freeola users that aren't interested in the gaming side of things and would also mean repeat business for Freeola when the prize domain comes up for renewal!

Dare I say it's also rewarding loyal customers rather than the 'cut and pasters' :¬)

Does anyone think only people who regularly post in the forums should be eligible to win ?.Does anyone think it seems a bit unfair that someone can just post a review/cheat that they may have already done for another site, copy and paste it and win (when they rarely contribute otherwise) ?.I'm not having a moan,I just wondered if something like this may entice a few more people to actually post in the forums ?.Generally the quality of the posts here are pretty good IMO.Perhaps it could do with being just a little bit busier ?.

Reviews, no, they shouldn't post a copy of any reviews and the rules state this.

Cheats are different just because of their nature, but I believe Freeola only give GADs to those who've submitted a ton of cheats over time (though I tend not to anyway).

At the end of the day, GAD is there as much to encourage new content and new people as it is to reward long standing members, so I don't mind if new people win as long as they stick around (but then you can't force them too other than enticing them with the chance to win again).

The main issue I see is that the gaming forum still seems to be way back in the list of important parts of the site and this could be where most of the traffic would come from if advertised properly.

Wanted to say thanks again. My Rockband 2 came yesterday and I tried it out last night.  Great game, though my GH3 guitar is a bit battered and the green button seems to be faulty.

Thanks Freeola, you the..er...men.

Would be interesting to see what you think of it, Emmie.

Hopefully should be a technical GAD today.  Hmmm has done a good post again which I reckon has a good chance of winning and I've got one I wrote this week as well.

Edit: Staff 4 Da Win  (sorry, couldn't resist)

Well done T1mmie

I did like your explanations of mobile internet connections Pb, and I did like hmm...'s thoughts on data backup. Unfortunately Tim likes to ruin it for everybody!

I'll still consider your guides/information for the next GAD prize next Thursday :)!

Yes very well done.

I think it should be changed from a technical post to a post about football that wins lol, i would be more use in submitting then!

Anyway, good post and a weel deserved win!

Staffies - would you ever consider VIP web hosting as a prize option?  I'd certainly be interested in a year's subscription!

You'd need to do something rather substantial...

We might consider doing a competition of sorts soon - this could be a prize option :)

I second pb's idea!
As the value of VIP hosting is more than the normal GAD perhaps you could give the option to 'combine two wins' ? Or offer some combination of hosting with the winner still registering the domain name with you?
It would/could be all repeat/new business for Freeola when the hosting/domain comes up for renewal.

Similar to the ideas in one of my posts earlier in this thread:

"Here's an idea :¬)

What's the best way to win a GAD (butmore specifically-eg. a long, droning review or a short informative one etc.) and how often are they given out? Or is it just see a good review, give out a GAD. And is it always Review post GAD, Technical post GAD, Review post GAD etc.

And i can't leave without congratulating cjh again on his 3 consecutive tech posts.

The Tuesday GAD is for reviews, topics on this forum and walkthroughs/cheats.

Probably the best advice for doing reviews is to make them interesting.  If they explain what the game is about and how good it is and actually make for interesting reading at the same time then I guess the staff will put it in the shortlist.
