Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

7/10

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

Love Actually.

Don't usually go for these sorts of films but I wasn't really bothered about the football last night so I watched this (with the annoying news in the middle of it) and quite enjoyed it.

Good cast and a number of different storylines made it enjoyable to watch.

Jackass 2 - Loved it - very sick in places, but that's normal for these guys! As with the first, just a feature-length episode, so if you don't like the TV series, you won't like this. 9/10

A Scanner Darkly - Loved the animation on this, but a little disappointed with the movie itself :( 6/10

Borat: blah blah blah - Quite enjoyed this, although the arrogance and rudeness of some of the people wound me up a little. 8/10

I agree, possibly the biggest dissapointment of 2006, it was bloody bad. Felt like watching the Blair Witch Project at some points. Couldn't understand what the hell half these people were saying. Didn't understand the whole idea of chasing a guy about who they could have killed from the start.   2/10

Over The Hedge - Short film, but good none the less, good fun for the kids, amusing at times and doesn't bore you at anypoint through the movie.  8/10

Pirates Of The Carribean : Dead Mans Chest - Like a trailer for the next installment but really enjoyed parts of it. They rely too much on Johnny Depp to make the audience laugh. funny moments in the film, storyline starting to go somewhere and it makes you want to see the next one.  7/10

Turistas : Slow to get going, boring characters, forced dialogue, and none of the shocking scenes the hype suggested. The best thing about it is the Brazilian backdrops.

Don't bother, 2/10

Casino Royale - really enjoyed this, such a big change of direction for the Bond License, yay :)

The Last Kiss - Enjoyed this too, but probably wouldn't have taken notice of it if Zach Braff wasn't in it...

Saw III - I enjoyed the film overall as I liked the 'story', but the shock scenes sometimes made my stomach turn, if not by wathing them, then by me imagining that stuff happening to me. Very brutal in places. 8/10

10 Things I Hate About You 10/10.
Probably just classed as a chick flick but it's one of a collection of films I watch while ironing.  Love the soundtrack and it has a cute Heath Ledger (sp) in it.

The Punisher  7/10
Main character comes over as a cross between Rambo and Christopher Lambert but just the usual 'comic' to 'film' transition. Travoltas' last couple of scenes were good.

Children of Men - couldn't get into this so switched off not even half way through. I was hoping it got better, and it probably did, but it was too slow to start.

Night at the Museum - enjoyed this more than I expected :) 9/10

Apocalypto 4/10
What a boring, pretentious, dumbed down*, w***fest that was. The longer it went on the more ridiculous it got. It's cardinal sin though is that it has to try to be epic and soulful when it should be anyway and it still fails. The dialogue feels quite modern and out of place as well, hearing one of the tribe say "He's f***ed" sort of takes you back into the real world and thats something that should never happen when you've got a film as potentially interesting as this. Thats the only thing that saves it, despite how badly handled it is, the subject and the scenery just about makes it watchable.
Oh my god, i was typing this as i'm watching it and it just gets worse and worse. It's starting to feel like one of those American soap operas set in the jungle now. Please make it stop.
* Laughs *
Oh come on now, Mel, you're taking the pi**. This isn't The Matrix.

* Is it possible to be pretentious and dumbed down at the same time?

Not bad at all, very imaginative, colourful. Not sure what else to say other than it's more worthy of your time than Apocalypto.

Its one of the best films ever made. There is no need for a review as such, just go and watch it if you haven't already and you wont be dissapointed.

The Great Escape

8/10

It wouldnt be Christmas/New Year without this classic. Ive never actually managed to watch it all the way through before and also didnt realise that it was a true story. It was a little bit long, but still a very enjoyable prison escape film.

Would have got a 9 but I thought the ending was a bit silly.  Great film though, how did I let this one pass me by?

Night at the Museum - Really good, though if you see alot of the adverts you may be bored at the start, however it gets alot better as it goes on =D Brilliant film 8.5/10 (would have been 9 if it weren't for the slow begining)

John Tucker Must Die was pretty good I though. The ending was kind of lame seen as he got away with it all and was still cool. Moral of the story, dont be a girl.

Cars

8/10

It was like Finding Nemo but with cars instead of fish. Pixar films are great and this was no exception. It contained some fantastic looking scenery for an animated film. It looks lightyears away from some of the traditional disney animations that I watched as a youngster.
