Just to remind you all, the clocks go back tonight, or forward. I forget which. Where's GP, he'll know.

I'm pretty sure the Americans changed the name of Autumn to 'Fall' just so they could created that saying to remember to turn the clocks back and forth at the right season;
"Spring forward, fall back"
That said, America's daylight savings time ends on 1st, a week after us.
Anyway, better remember as we're taking the kids to a birthday party tomorrow, to see the Gruffalo at the local theatre. Think I'll probably enjoy it as much as them!

I dont think thats right. If you look up the etymology of fall, its actually a european word thats fallen into disuse. So it seems more likely that its a word settlers took with them and kept. Its been in use longer than daylight savings anyway.

Dammit. And it was such a simple answer!
Doesn't surprise me though, all those that complain about the US's use of the strange date format; MM/DD/YY don't seem to realise it was inherited from us and we changed to our current format.

Ah I didnt know that but had wondered previously but searching yielded nothing useful on the subject. Do you know if theres any reason why month was said first?

Are we also the reason why the Americans drive on the left and don't have universal healthcare?
@GP, you sleep too early, sometimes I don't go to bed until 1:30am. I'm a proper nightowl.

Weren't we the 'creators' of the 'Americans' in the first place. I'm sure the native population at the time didn't care which side they drove on.

True, so I guess my question should be, will we ever join the rest of the world and drive on the left?
The only benefit to driving on the right is you don't have to re-do your tests if you move to Japan. I think we have some kind of agreement with them as we're both righties.

It's to-MAT-to, not to-MAY-to.
And ala-mini-um, not a-lumi-num.
