Instead of the 50s, Marty would travel back in time to 1982. When Danger Mouse was on British tv and ET, Blade Runner, The Wrath of Khan and The Dark Crystal were in the cinema.

I can picture it being a totally different movie. Infact if they remade Back to the Future I imagine it would barely have a recogniseable plot, Could be awesome - runs the risk of ruining the vision for many a fan of the classic though...
