Original Post:
This is just a rumour, but what do you guys think of it? I wouldn't be surprised if they went and did it. Lucas isn't getting any younger and if it's not a sequel trilogy it's a remake trilogy of the originals. (in 20 odd years maybe?)

I would link you to the site, but as you can imagine it got so much traffic it broke.

I love Star Wars and from what i understand there are tons of books that have a variant in time lines that it could be brought to the big screen.

There could be ones after return of the jedi or set years before phantom menace, either way i would watch it.

He said a few years back that he wouldn't be doing episodes eight, nine and ten and that he would also stop anyone else trying to do them, too. But, money talks and he's probably down to his last billion dollars so is considering his options.

We all know that if they are made then they'll be the now-usual CGI crapfest (I love this picture), but I can look past that and will be looking forward to the storyline.

I love that picture Timmargh :D I really liked the old 'making of' features where they showed all the model makers and puppeteers. Now all they show is some overweight geek working on a computer.

I was disappointed with the prequels but I still watched them. I dunno, maybe I do want to see some more. As long as Lucas isn't directing though and the whole thing isn't filmed in front of a green screen.

Oh and can I have another Harry Potter book too please?

I suppose they have to work on something along the lines of KOTOR hundreds of years before the first stars.

That works i;m sure. Have a story on revan and all that.

I don't mind green-screen in proper movies, but I've not brought myself round to watching the CGI Clone Wars movie...something about it just tells me I'll hate the classic movies I love if I watch it.

I might be completely wrong on that though...

Why not just take a step back and watch them as a seperate movie? I find myself able to do this quite easily.

Terminator 3, absolute bleep! But it's didnt ruin the series for me.
Alien 3...... what? But again, Aliens remains brilliant.

Just look at the movie as seperated and I'm sure you may enjoy it ;)

In other words, don't put your hopes up and hype a movie. Same with games i suppose i find its more enjoyable if you don't read the previews etc. L4D and painkiller being prime examples.

Jar jar binks must die though. I would have paid money to see anakin skywalker cut that walking irratation in 2.

What was wrong with Alien 3? Best one of the series in my opinion.

The extended version of Alien 3 is pretty damn good but Aliens remains the best of a bunch, and one of those rare sequels which is better than the original.

So apart from Aliens (or Alien 3) are there many sequels that are better than the original? Does anyone prefer Empirte Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi over A New Hope?

well the empire strikes back was my fav of the bunch as it certainly had one of the most iconic moments in movie history darth vader being lukes father.

Some sequels are slightly better just because the original wasn't very good (although not a great film Rise of the Silver Surfer IS better than the original Fantastic Four)

Spider-Man 2 is better than Spider-Man and Spider-Man was already pretty damn good. Shame they couldn't keep that trend up when Spider-Man 3 came out...

Then there's the argument about Terminator/Terminator 2, which is tricky because they're different genres, although the same could be said about Alien/Aliens, Aliens added action to the horror aspect whereas T2 took away the horror element from Terminator.

They will kill it... i didn't particularly like Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. The Phantom Menace was ok, as it was the one out of the 'new films' that had the least technology. But come on Lucas, next time you make a multi-billion pound film series, DO THEM IN THE RIGHT ORDER! It's ridiculous the way the series leaps from modern day technology, and then suddenly puppets are being used?! I'm not a fanboy, so i'm not happy about it, but many fanboys won't mind, as long as it's a Lucas film.

*EDIT* Oh yeh, if a new set get made, Star Wars would be made even worse! You'd have a technology sandwich! The first 3 and the last 3 would be modern, whilst the middle 3 would be full of puppetry. And if Jar Jar Binks comes back, i'll shove that tongue up his....

why george lucas thought jar jar binks would be a winner i haven't a clue. Hell he becomes a galactic senator member! What the fudge. All he deserved to have happen to him is get tortured, torn to shredds and get a lightsaber to the face.
