Due to lack of activity/active players, I have decided to finish the predictions and just change this into a place football can be discussed amongst those of us who follow the sport away from the general chat. I'll probably bring it back for EURO 2012 :)
Current Hot Topics:
Premier League Title Race
Roy Hodgson
Play-off Season
The 'business end' of European and FA Cups
Original Post: Manchester United 8 - 2 Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 5 Manchester City
Who could have predicted that? You think you could have? Prove it, with this season's football prediction game (as previously ran by Emmie, but he's disappeared, so I'll volunteer to take the reins). After 3 matchdays for the majority of teams (sorry Spurs and Everton) down, we should have a good idea of how the season is going to play out, but this is football.
Each week, many football matches will be played. I'll be posting a fixture list for everyone to be picking results from. The rules should be familiar to everyone:
Pick 4 games out of the list of fixtures posted.
Pick results (home win, away win, draw) for each of the games.
1 point for 3 correct results, 3 points for all 4 correct.
Then pick 1 game to choose a scoreline and first goalscorer.
1 point for correct result, 1 point for correct scoreline, 1 point for first goalscorer and 4 points for all correct. (The points do stack so it would be 1 point for result and an extra point for scoreline, making it 2 points)
There may also be some occasions where there is some sort of special bonus fixture or thing to choose, I'll try and make these occasions as clear as possible, and the rules on such are on a case by case basis
The table is as follows: (updated 13/9/11)
dav2612 - 6
Butch - 1
HighflyerVII - 0
Internationals:
dav2612 - 12
HighflyerVII - 7
If there are any rule changes wanted or anything that needs clarifying, feel free to ask

Now just imagine if it was 2-1 at Old Trafford, not 6-1...

Pretty unlikely in all honestly but I'll tell you what I did for the world cup. I can make adjustments.
1. I had a list of who everyone had predicted to win the tournament. I'd created an excel spreadsheet so everyone could map out the tournament and copy and paste the screenshot. Some did, some didn't
2. I had threads open for all 63 games. They were filled with anonymous polls, game predictions (win or draw), discussion, videos, and the team flags. I'd update as the games did with the scorers, goal times etc
3. The rules were relatively simply. 1 point if you get the got the result correct, nothing otherwise. 31 chances to score at the euros and a tiebreak is decided by a prediction of top scorer.
4. Fantasy football runs alongside the prediction tournament. Last time FIFA had the traditional game and this strange hybrid betting thing that I'm hoping will return.
It was a hell of a lot of work and I couldn't do the same thing on here simply because of the graphical restrictions but it was a lot of fun. I had about 70 people play the game and a load more just enjoying the conversation

Emmie's format:
Predict a score and first goalscorer
1 for correct result
+1 for correct score
+1 for first goalscorer
+1 for correct score & correct goalscorer
so 4 points for score and goalscorer, else a maximum of two (score, or result and goalscorer)

I'm pretty sure Emmie's one for matches was:
First goal scorer
Winning team
Final score
With a possible three points to be one

I don't know what format Emmie uses but i used to run a big prediction contest on another site. I could easily do it on here.
I had various games running within 1 thread, a tournament planner, game predictor, fantasy football. I can't do the flashy graphics & charts on this site but it should still be fun.

Typical answer from a petulant teenager, beaten personally within Freeola League and hammered, teamwise within the Premier League ;¬)

I was joking when I said we'd have Konchesky at left back. I really wouldn't be surprised seeing as he's up to his old tactics of recruiting everyone he's ever worked with despite the fact he's won nothing with them.

If Liverpool lose the FA Cup final tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kenny stepping down already and Cappelo stepping in. Won the worst of all the domestic trophies and have an abysmal league position. Very poor season.
