Original Post:
Out right this minute, allot of retailers seem to be stocking it early despite it’s Tuesday release date, heck, I’ve even seen it on the shelves at my local ASDA, and they’re crap for selling the latest PC games. My copy was waiting for me this morning and first impressions are very good. If you liked the demo, you’ll find little to disappoint with the full version.

The AI is top notch, the first time I’ve actually found myself being flanked by enemies, pinned down by their weapons, flushed out with grenades and even encircled by those I foolishly though just ran away to hide. It gives the action sequences a much more cinematic feel. The scary bits are plentiful too, the demo only gave a brief taste of these, there are many more in the full game, some of which only made me go ‘meh’ others made me whimper like a little sissy.

It’s certainly not varied, if your not shooting things then you tend to be in dark, dingy corridors waiting for the next apparition to appear, but damn, it’s fun, perhaps some of the most fun I’ve had with a FPS for a long while.

So has no one else got this yet? I'm actually enjoying far more than Half Life 2, which I loved.

I assume you'd get the same FPS as latest multiplayer demo.

Pros:

Best combat/fight sequences I've ever played (in SP), most intelligent enemies I've ever faced. I've never seen squads work together and create and use cover like they have in this game. Guns all feel meaty and powerful, though it's a shame we've seen them all in the demo. I love the scoped assault rifle.

Cons:

The first part hasn't exactly been scary, though it gets better when you change locations. Talking of locations, I have never seen so many shades of grey in my life - I long for a green or red, or something to liven up the surroundings.

The environments being so samey is a big minus point for me, but the combat (and that's what we play for, right?) makes you forget about this instantly. Every fight is different, and squads will change tactics when you approach a scenario in a different way.

This game rules, I love it.

edit: Performance seems to have been improved since the demo. Not huge changes, but I get clearly better FPS than I did in the demo.

I've heard some people are having problems with performance, Though I can't say I've suffered from any myself. Everything run smooth, even when there are  lots of things being shooted.

You've been playing this rather than jumping in a car and personally driving to deliver mine.

I don't think any game will ever have guns that feel as good for me as Farcry's did they were just perfect, i wish every game had the feel right like them.

I doubt I'd get problems with FEAR, I think I'm just being paranoid, BF2 and everything else runs like a dream.

I like FEAR's weapons, I tend to stick with the basics though, duel handed pistols, Assault Rifle and shotgun.

And may I just say, FEAR Shotgun ------------> all other FPS shotguns ever.

I love it, get close enough and you can shoot people in half, or turn them into a bloody mist, it's perfect for the small corridor based levels.

Can I find somewhere to tell me how to do this? I have the same card, and would like to squeeze some more power from it. You got the 128mb version right?

Sure, download a program called RivaTuner, and then follow the steps on this page Click Here and then the next page.

Bear in mind though there's only around a 50% chance of being able to unlock the pipes. If it's successful, restart, and if there are no artifacts (which will basically appear as crap lines or blobs in the screen), then all is well, if so, then just use rivatuner to revert the process.

To overclock it a bit on the same program, press the button next to customise in the driver settings section, and click on the first one called system settings. Enable driver-level hardware overclocking, move the sliders up however much and then click test. If it says all is well then fine, if not, keep moving the sliders down a bit and keep testing.

It's a short game, got it on Saturday and completed it on sunday, although it was the only game I played at the weekend, and is definately something I'll be going back to. Also, though I don't want to spoil it, the ending = :-0

Whoa, just played the demo for the first time. Gave me the craps :' (
The girl at the stairs and then the ghost-guy at the bottom, ArghH!Hh! I shot him for about 3 seconds until i stopped crying, and then i looked and he was gone. And then the corridor! afrata!

I wan to play it all but I don't take being scared well, and that was actually scary, not Doom 3 style, where "scary" means "predictable and dull"

Someone hold me : (

played a bit of this yesterday and although i'm only about an hour in to the game i have to say there hasn't been one challenging fight yet. I am only playing o the default difficulting but i expected the enemies to put up much more of a fight.

Most fights i have won using only a pistol as they seem to stick their heads out begging to die, 2 bullets tops to take out each guy.

Also if you run at them they seem to get confused and run out ni the open mang nice easy targets.

I might start over and set it a bit higher as like this the odd scary scene is all thats keeping me playing.

I'm playing on hard and it's certainly no walkover. Excellent game too.

With this, Q4 (amazing art direction, simplistic gameplay, but FUN, something D3 was seriosly lacking in) and lost coast, my faith in none WoW game has been restored.

WoW still pwns.

As for FEAR, well, it looks good... But will my lowly 9600XT work well enough to make it worth my while?

I'm starting to find this title incredibly dull. No variation in environments or enemies.

There's only so many times you can see the same disused office / warehouse corridor.

yeah scary bits nice, rest of game :(

I set it to hard and still not having to much trouble with enemies, i think the head hitboxes must be too big or they just stick them out too much as pistols still the quickest weapon for kills.

Yup. Now I've got to grips with the (glitchy) A.I., weapons and controls, there's not much of a challenge. Helps that I'm sober too.

I wish I'd just played the demo 5 or 6 times one after the other instead of paying for this now. :(

One thing fear has got down is the animation on the enemies, they move pretty well and smoothly, although when behind walls they keep leaving a leg visable meaning that they get bullets in it.

The slow-mo + nades is great when you throw one it bounces off the floor hits a wall, up in to the air and takes out 3 guys, just leaving legs and arms with a huge blood stain.

Using slo-mo to chuck a nade then set it off by shooting it is pretty fun too.

I guess you could do it without slo-mo but you'd need some 1337 skillz.
