What the dealio, it free?  Looking on Steam at the pricing options, it won't let me buy it (I've got the retail version of HL2), but I thought it was standalone.

Give a bruvva a hand?

Stop flirting you little mo, just tell me.

Unless you've bought the silver or gold HL2 package, you have to pay from what I gather. You can only register one copy of HL via steam though, and not buy DOD seperately, so I don't know quite how I'll be able to purchase it.

A little silly really.

Exactly what I've just thought checking it out. Don't they want to sell products? If so, they should at least make it possible to actually buy them.

Oh well, BF2 tops CS and HL2 in all sorts of ways.  Rock on!

You need BF2 and DODS or the cool kids will phase you out.

Available for preload from today, and can be pre-ordered for $17ish. I would have written the exact price had steam not decided to start crashing as soon as it loads.

$17.96, so closer to $18, which is about £9.93. Not too bad for a game tbh.

It's been 'preloading' for an hour and a half and hasnt even done 1%. Also my ISP are upgrading me from 512Kb to 1Mb for the same £15.99 a month, totally uncapped. Tho' they didnt tell me about the new offers, I just happened to stumble across them on their site and had to upgrade it myself. Just got to wait a few days for it to happen...

Mine's been going like 20 minutes and it's on 95%
But it did seem to start on 80%, not sure why that was.

80%'ll be the HL2 files it uses. Bah mines been going ages and still not done  1% (over the 80%). Must be a dodgy server i'm connected to...

100%!!

Took about half an hour or so.
And it was only going at about 100-120 kb/s so that's only about twice as fast as you should be able to get.

If you've got CS / HL2 installed, I'd imagine that's why. These people starting at zero will not have.

I don't think my original question was answered - pricing options?  Anyone else got the retail version of HL2 and downloading DoDS?  How much?

I had the chance of uying it earlier. Same price as mentioned earlier in the thread. I'm a HL2 retail owner too.

I'm not going to download it however, as I'm very bored of CS and bored of Battlefield 2 already....

Damn, I thought they'd give it us for free :(

Haven't even got BF2 yet.  I'm sure something new and shiny will have come along by the time SR get stock.

I get sick of leet speak, cheats and constant respawns.
Plus, WoW is playable at: -

1. Tipsy
2. Drunk
3. Very Drunk

Whereas twitch games are only playable at no 1 above, and even then you're likely to play badly. I've done instances on WoW and forgotten.....

Nah retail packs were done by Sierra/VU and valve did the steam packs, no retail version including the collectors has DOD:S

I'm so glad i got my dad to use his credit card to get mine over steam, I was hoping they would change there payment options to paypal or at least Switch card but they haven't yet.

Only sometimes.  My alcoholic intake the other night induced me to do things I'd never dared do before.  Ended a CS match with a kill death ratio of 46/9.

Me and a friend used to play Rainbow Six 3 and various other FPS games whilst drinking, Burnout 3 too.

Really funny when you kill an entire Rainbow Six team/win a slayer match in Halo 2 and announce to everyone that you are infact: quite drunk. :D
