Anyone picked this up ? Just wondering cause it has online co-op. My friend just bought it and also bought the game for me too. Should be fun gunning down terrorists. The reviews have had alot of praise for it.
I'll be going online with it soon for some co-op with my friend. Hope the medals are still in the game. ;-)

If you're played any of the previous games, you've played Global Storm.
It all seemed little bit familiar and dated to me.
If you want an excellent co-op game however, I highly recommend Serious Sam 2. 4 player online and it's so much fun.

Except this is 4 player online unlike the other C:DS games.
Having played 4 player co-op on Close Combat:First to Fight and finding it excellent this sort of co-op should be amazing.

Its great in co-op. Especially when you can heal your team mates who get gunned down. The only thing I don't like are the enemies. "Military tactics" are apparently used by them. They must have asked an army in the Middle East, cause I don't know any other (maybe Zulus) that would just run at you like a suicidal athletic sprinter.
Whats worse is that they tend to be pretty accurate while setting new athletic records, while your guys can't seem to hit anything just for standing up. So of course, to get more accuracy, you lay on the ground - which leads to the problem of you turning your aim, being slower than their running. So in no time at all, they're on top of you, and shooting you while you're on the floor.
They also seem to have that annoying Ghost Recon enemy ability to just shake off bullets alot. The combination of shaking bullets off and the huge recoil, just put me right off being the sniper. Good point is of course like the other games in the series, you can pick up other guns and have one as backup.
The co-op definatly makes up for any flaws though. Don't think my friends forking out for any extra copies - sorry Hedfix. ;-)
One more game to buy before the 360 comes out and thats Battlefront 2, which my cousin and friend are also grabbing. Anyone else fancy joining us on the Imperial side and trashing Rebels ? ;-)

Let me have the M249 guy and I'll show you how it's done.
I'll charge ahead and you guys pick of the few ones that I miss with my several hundred bullets. ;)
I used to do entire missions just with that guy on his own.

CDS 1 & 2 were brillaint. Vietnam was a total let down.
I have the new one on PC and I'm waiting a few weeks to play it co-op with a friend. Hopefully it'll be better than Vietnam but if it isn't, it's not like I've wasted any money on it anyway ^^

Damn right.
Two of the most enjoyable games since the current generation of consoles came out. Especially in 4 player.

I found that it was great on Xbox anyway.
I don't really see the difference beyond which controller you prefer.

There were tons of differences.
CDS on Cube came out about 6 months after the Xbox version and had massive amounts of upgrading done on it.

Oh yeah that's right, it was out WAY after the Xbox version and had some of the AI from C:DS 2 in it which was soon to be on Xbox making owning the Cube version of C:DS rather pointless if you already had the Xbox version and were getting C:DS 2.

*scratches head*
Not really sure what that's got to with anything. It was still a better game than the Xbox version and by far the best game in the series.
I found the level design in CDS:2 to be quite dissapointing really, it felt far too boxed in and claustrophobic. I preffered the more open design of the first game.
The less said about Vietnam, the better.

I think everyone was playing Freedom Fighters by then.
I preferred C:DS 2 because it actually required some skill to complete, although I expect the Cube version of CD:S was slightly harder: I'd already completed the Xbox version on all difficulties in single player and it was hard enough playing with my friends getting torn apart by the Xbox AI without them being any more difficult.
In single player the open areas in C:DS just made it too easy to setup killzones and waltz through the levels.

I only played the demo and decided to leave it. Tbh I thought I'd out grown the series as a gamer until they announced the online co-op which is the only reason I want to get this new one.

Yeah its the co-op that got me wanting to play this one. If the series hadn't made that step, I don't think there would have been so much interest. Most XBox owners seem to look for online content in their games now. Personally I love online co-op. :-)

CDS II was too boxed in, I agree. The open levels on the original may not of looked amazing, but they were great fun. Although, the siege level in co-op on CDSII was awesome. But then again, so was the helicopter crash level on the original.

It was the boxed in closeness that actually made it a challenge though.
Otherwise it'd just be another turkey shoot.

Nah, CDS was better. The night time level was solid - CDS II was tricky as well, yeah, but the fact is you still got shot at lots in both.

You're making out that CDS and CDS2 are exactly the same game, with the AI in CDS2 on the Xbox making CDS on the Gamecube seem pointless.
Which is just crazy.
CDS is better than CDS2. 2 was far too short, and had some questionable enemy AI.

No I wasn't, I was saying it was pretty pointles buying the GC version having completed the Xbox version just for a few tweaks when the better CD:S 2 was coming out shortly on the platform.
And C:DS 2 was much better because the level design actually made it a challenge.

Ah right, you were speaking from a personal viewpoint. That makes all the difference.
Some of the levels in CDS2 were fantastic, yes, but there simply weren't enough of them. I think if there had been 5 or 6 more (so that the number at least equalled that in the original), I probably would have preferred CDS2.
The fact that it was more street-orientated was a good thing, but the open desert missions weren't as good as they were in CDS1.

Yeah I liked those missions in C:DS1 but looking back I preffered the street battles in C:DS1 more which is no doubt why I liked C:DS 2 so much.
I do remember it being shorter but in someways C:DS1 could drag on as there was a lot of running around and doubling back even though you'd killed everone just to tie up objectives. In the sequel they streamlined it so that objectives were completed on the way and put in more ambushes from troops coming at you from streets you thought you'd cleared to really bring out the urban fighting.
I played C:DS through on all difficulty settings and by the end it was certainly dragging on so I was glad that C:DS 2 was shorter because I was going to replay all the levels on the higher difficulties anyway. The shortness made it more likely you'd be able to complete the game with your mates in 1 or 2 sittings.
