Apparently the demo is out now, ooohh!
Although I dunno, with the likes of F.E.A.R and Battlefield 2 recently, generic fps games dont really appeal to me anymore, there are too many of them anyway. Plus its another WW2 one, which i'm just tired of.
But anyway

That one got by me...
The set-pieces in this look really, really good. There's a whole bunch of videos on IGN - that cliff-climbing bit looks awesome, if a bit too scripted.

Haven't installed it yet, but SS2 promised to be playable for people like me, but it wasn't. Well it was, if you can play an FPS with a blue and white square chasing a red and orange square.

Damn, it faded before I could get a shot of the man at the end. He's very dapper, y'know. Also, I got into Hitler's house, yay me!
EDIT: Click Here If you resume the demo it takes you straight to that bit just as it fades out, which is a bit pointless, but it let me get a picture of the dapper man.

What gfx card have you got monkeyman? These look rather nice...
Edit: Just under 3hours remaining. Tiscali should have upgraded my BB last week, but on the day it was meant to be done I noticed that they'd reduced the price, so 'upgraded' again, thus having to wait another 4 days :(

I've got an Nvidia GFx5200 64Mb, really low spec card for what is coming out these days. The readme file says it supports Nvidia GFx3 series upwards. That was optimised for me by the game, but I had a peek and it's 800x600, 4 x aliasing, bilinear filtering, normal textures, medium dead bodies. Can't wait to see what it looks like on a decent system, but it ran surprisingly well on mine. I think the whole cartoony-Nazi look helps, plus it was all sand and stuff.
I tried to get as many shots of smoke, sunlight, textures, blood splatter, etc.
EDIT: 2Mb broadband took 38 minutes for the queue, 40-odd minutes to download.

Enjoy!

Yeah, it's not that good really. Lots of fancy set-pieces, but once you've played them through it's just running and holding down the mouse trigger - hardly any tactics involved, which is where PC shooters are at nowadays. It's stupid when I can actually run alongside the Germans as they're trying to find cover.
Are there any plans for a multiplayer demo? Don't get me wrong, it looks and feels good, but the gameplay is lacking. Needs other people.

Aha, the man at the end is spackered. There's something wrong with where the neck connects - look at the image of me smacking the Nazi, his head looks like it starts halfway down his back.

Have you played Hidden and Dangerous 2? A very under-rated game and relies quite heavily on tactics, especially in co-op mode on harder settings.

Not bad, I enjoyed it, perhaps not as much I thought I would. I was hoping for a step up from Call of Duty, this just seems to be more of the same but better looking. Didn't see much of the non-linear approach to missions that I've heard hyped for this sequel, and while the set pieces are nice I would have proffered better AI.
I'll still probably buy it, though I can't help but feel a little dissapointed.

I'm quite a Call of Duty/Medal of Honour fan really, but the demo level has slightly disappointed me. This is mainly down to the level design being horrifically 'tiny'. Anyone else find all the areas in the level microscopic? And yeah, where was the open 360 degrees exploration/assault we were promissed?
On about the graphics now. In magazine previews I've always thought Infinity Ward's graphics engine looked, er, a bit weird. The game world was good, but the models looked too 'sterilized' for my liking. There's something of dislike to the way the models are rendered.
But, having said all that, the way it plays (the feeling of the weapons, the way the enemies juggle when taking hits), is all still satisfying, and I'm sure level design will be better in other places. And It isn't a system choker either, just like the Quake 3 powered original. Any middling PC will run it smooth.

Well, this demonstration of what the game is capable of hasn't impressed me too much. Hope all the levels aren't that short.

Would be nice if there was some nice physics in there. The ragdolls are lame, I want to be able to fill a dead Nazi with bullets and see their body spazz out.

thats probably one of the greatest bits of DOD:S they have the full ragdoll in rather than the ruduced version in CSS, hopefully COD2 will be different from this pre-release.

I enjoyed the COD and United offensive but if this is as restrictive and scripted like it is in COD2 then I don't see much of a reason to get this.
Other than that it's practically the same thing with new levels and new graphics something EA specializes in, BUT from playing the demo it is as enjoyable as the previous games it is just a demo though so I'm hoping there will be multiple routes and that it won't just be full of scripted events.
Oh and Brothers in Arms was a refreshing change with it's squad ordering system the only problem was it's 2 on 2 co-op mode which is ridiculous for a PC game.

When you're saying it's only a demo of the technical side, do you mean the microscopic thin tube of level design wont be in the full game? If it's only a graphics demo then it's alright, we should be only talking about the graphics side and mechanics of the game engine.
I love the game engine as it feels so Quake 3 like the original.

I quite enjoyed the demo but it hates my PC. drops down to 8 FPS in places at 1024x768 with most things on medium (not that there's many options to tweak). I can't work out why it's running so badly.
