Technically money does grow on trees because the bark is stripped off the tree and it's turned into paper and the paper is turned into notes! haha

Once you get your golden shovel (after burying a normal shovel for 24 hours and then digging up a golden shovel) all that you have to do is bury a bag of money (the more money, the more money you get off of the tree) and it will become a sapling. But you have to WATER it daily until it grows. Then, when the tree has grown, the tree will look plain. In other words there won't be any fruit or money bags hanging off of it. You just have to shake the tree and your money will fall out. It works for me...

no you dont have to plant bells in a glowing area...atleast i dont think you do, i planted 3000bells next to my house yesterday and a tree is growing,but i dont know if bells will appear. :)

dont you have to plant 1000 bells into a glowing area..
Its like a little circle glowing spot on the ground, you dig it, 1000 bells get dug out. put it back in, and a tree grows.

As far as I know, it's completely random if buried money produces a money tree.

Okay, I had another look, a longer look this time.
It appears that it's not a guarantee that money trees grow. There is a thought that the more you 'plant' the more chance it'll grow.
The most you can get is 90,000 - 3 bags of 30,000 each. That's if you 'plant' 30,000. Bury less, get less. Bury more and you only get 90,000.

Put 100,000 bells in the ground about 5 weeks ago and still nothing. It grew a tree but no dosh. I must be doing something wrong.

I had a quick look at a walkthrough and it says that it takes about a week for money trees to bear 'fruit'. It also says the more money you put in, the more you get out.
