Glad you didn't make it easy for me, and there was plenty of variety in the stories, which made reading through them very interesting - I always like to see so many different takes on a theme.
In the end it was really between two very different stories in terms of tone and content (mine wasn't one of them...) and after a little to-ing and fro-ing I'm going to go for Everpain's 'The Gifthorse's Lament' as my winner.

Wow. I am both surprised and flattered. Maybe I should have more faith in myself.
Anyway, I shall spend the next few hours contemplating a topic that you will all hopefully find both challenging and rewarding. I will then ignore this in favour of something spicy.

Was hoping to have read these today, but distractions etc. Now off to work, so if anyone wants to sneak in an entry, you might get away with it.
